That would take a tons of resources, to waste them all like this :o Specially when you want to put railings high or anything..... :o
Also they could have some sort of filler role to patch up little holes between your structures and the ground, those are just ugly to look at.
This works as long as you can place the initial fence foundation where you want it. I built a bridge across a river and wanted to give it some railing, but there were three tiles in the middle of the bridge that it wouldn't let me line up a fence foundation along the side of the tile.
It's definitely time-consuming and wasteful (I wouldn't do it in a PvP game), but it's also currently the only way to get railings at all. At the very least, the railings are useful as stoppers so you don't accidentally run off a balcony or something. Yes, you could just use walls or windowframes, but then you wouldn't really have a balcony, you'd have another room without a ceiling.
As for the OP, I would love to see half-walls, railings, stairs, thinner and/or shorter ramps (so that they don't clip through floors and walls), the ability to rotate structural pieces like walls and floors (and lock their orientation) at will without having to move around, slanted ceilings, and a whole lot more added to the building system. I won't be terribly disappointed if most of these never get added, but I bet we'll get railings at the very least eventually.
True +1 for that :) We have been talking about it as well, that it would be nice to see some acual stairs and so on. Those ramps makes life hard, if u want to have a stair to second floor, u need to have only a straight one, because you cant use 2 ramps, they go through the walls etc, and if u want to make stair with turn, with 1 celling block, u cant, other ramp blocks you. Stairs would be nice as well :)
