How to place doors and walls in a specific facing?
Topic, basically. I have some wall tiles facing one side, others facing the opposite side and it's ticking off my OCD.

You can't at the moment, the direction of the door/wall is based on it's surrounding other foundation/ceiling/wall

:c I see.
You can not flip them
Devs have mention in a ARK Digest I belive #7
They will had the ability to rotate walls and revamp the building system with more peices

Well...you kind of can, actually, but it's reaaaaaally finicky. Like, the difference of a few pixels in the way you hold your mouse. It's definitely *easier* to get a wall/ceiling to match the closest tiles around it, but if you get a wall to snap green, then move your mouse veeeery slowly to the outer limit of its snap box, you'll notice the transparency flipping direction. I found it easiest to stand almost sidelong to whatever I was trying to place because it was easiest, with wood at least, to see which way the logs were bulging from the side.

I noticed that the Wooden Fence Foundations I placed are affecting the facing on the walls I'm putting on top of them. Maybe with a little patience I can replace the fence foundations from the opposite direction to make the walls snap to the facing I wish them to have.

ciceqi, I will definitely try your method. It's finicky but it's probably less of a hassle than demolishing the whole setup and doing it again from scratch. :P

you can control the direction they end up facing for foundation placing, but its abit tricky, you have to place them while your character is looking at the spot at the right angle, and sometimes it won't work from the same position for two walls. likewise sometimes just walking to the opposite side of the foundation you can get it to place right while other times not, just got to pay really close attention to where the 'framing' shows on the transparent bit.

with fences, if one part flips on you, break the wall, remove the foundation below it, and snap the fence foundation to the opposite side it was snapped to originally, and after that the wall will face the opposite direction it was prior.

if your wood fence foundation is facing the wrong way, go to the other side (longways) and put it down.

That's what I'm about to do, Vod. :)

Updating: I placed the Wooden Fence Foundations by snapping them to the opposite side the previous ones were placed, and now the walls are facing the correct side for my purposes :)

A little iffy, but manageable. Thanks for the input!

It's very tricky but possible.
Every piece has two snaping positions, you can see the color changing to a brighter lighter tone when it is pulled closer to you.
It's not easy and it takes some fine tunning mouse manipulating (rotation, hight & distance)
let's say we want a double door opening to the outside of a structure.
1 - position yourself on the outside
2 - make sure all the side walls are snaped to the outside (in your direction)
3 - Place the door frame snapped to the outside
4 - Place the door snapped to the outside
and the door will then open to the outside as well.
