Guide to solo taming Rex/Spino
before going out on the hunt get geared up.

you will need at least:
1bow(plus some some extra wood and fiber enough to repair bow at least 4 times)
150-200 tranq arrows
1 campfire
30 cooked meat
waterskin( i always have 2)
spyglass
hatchet(pref metal)
around 500 narcotics for rex and 1200 for spino(for max lvl 90 dino)
1 wood/thatch foundation and a bed (for respawning fast in the event you die)

a bird, pref pteradon since they are fast and good for scouting areas
a good prime meat farmer(i use rex, if you dont have one then carno or raptor will do)

compass/gps
8 fence foundations and 8 walls(or 16 if you wanna make wall 2 layers high to be extra safe and prevent dinos from killing unconscious rex/spino.)

i always go to center island with my bird and have rex following.(lots of stegos and brontos to farm for prime meat) i set rex to neutral and park him near river where i can come back and get him later.
now fly around on bird (i stick to that river around center island and just circle the center island following the river looking for whatever lvl rex/spino i want).
once you find the rex/spino you want to tame go to your rex(or whatever prime meat farmer your using) and have it follow you to the top of the nearest cliff where the rex/spino you want to tame is then have your rex unfollow you.

while on your bird lure the rex/spino to the bottom of the cliff where you parked your rex. make sure your rex is a lil behind you so he doesnt attack wild rex/spino.
now throw up that foundation and bed up on that cliff in the event you die you can re spawn fast.
now the wild rex/spino should be at bottom of cliff staring up at you but out of reach so just fire off tranq arrows at the rex/spino while your rex is behind you protecting your rear but dont stand too close to cliffs edge(ive been knocked off cliff from wild raptor/saber).
after every 5 or so arrows(wait around 8-10 secs per arrow) i put into the rex/spino i turn around and make sure no dilo/raptors or whatever are nearby.
expect to use 100+ arrows for lvl 80+ rex and around 60 for spino.

once its knocked out get down and throw up your wooden fence around the knocked out dino. make sure to have a door.
park your bird down cliff near the dino and set to neutral.
throw all your items on bird (narcotics...etc and same with your prime meat farming dino, make sure he is empty).
now starve the rex/spino for about an hour(so you can throw like 20-30 prime in him all at once).
buid your campfire not too close to the dino. keep a steady supply of cooked meat so you dont starve.

if your taming a rex then you wont have to use alot of narcotics to keep him down while starving him out. but if your tame a spino then you will need to use quite alot of narcotics in that hour while starving him.
take note on how much torpor they are gaining per min, so you know how long you can be safely away from them before they wake up. this is only prob for spino as they gain torpor back real fast.
i run around on rex killing all non prime meat giving dinos(sohopfully more stegos/brontos will spawn) and any carnivores(so they dont kill your prime meat farm) while starving out dino.
after you starved them for an hour or so its time to farm that prime meat. dont farm the prime meat giving dinos closest to you(stegos brontos...etc) go like 5mins from where the dino you knocked out is and work your way back.
now once your back(gotta do this fast in like 6mins as prime will spoil in 8min on dino) and have 20+ prime meat(i can get like 30 on my rex in about 7min).
now transfer all items from your dino to your inv, then from your inv to the dino you knocked out(can take a while to pull out the prime one by on and some my spoil.)
and dont worry the dino will eat the prime meat first.
now to continue the prime farm, time how long in between each time the dino eats. i noticed its usually like 2.5mins in between meals and since prime spoils in 8 mins never have more than 3 prime in dino at any time, otherwise it will just go to waste.
so now its just a matter of conserving prime meat giving dinos and not overkill them so you dont waste prime meat and once again kill carnivores and non prime meat dinos when your waiting.
and of course keep the dino knocked out, you wil have to be more careful with spino asi tate before they gain torpor back real fast.

can tame a lvl 90 rex in about 3hrs feeding him nothing but prime.
ive tamed 3 rexs(lvl 56, lvl 78, lvl 87) and 1 spino (lvl 81) solo doing this. I hope you have similar luck.

My tactic for solo taming is similar, except I use a pack dinosaur that i keep by the bed to hold spare bows and arrows so that you can quickly restock and run off

If you are quick enough, and yoru bed placed close enough, you can keep peppering your target with arrows long before their torpor has a chance to drain

Be warned when doing brontos however....(for anyone wanting to tame one solo)

They can kill in two or so hits, and if you're on a hill they can launch you.

I'd recommend luring them into trees, they get stuck and have to free themselves before comign after you, giving you time to hit them several times

Also, you don't have to starve. It is the same amount of time as if you let him eat normally, you just see all the progress happen at the end so it feels faster, but it's been proven that it's the same amount of time regardless

The starve is not for fast tame. It's for prime to be eat at once. So you can put 20 prime. Or you can put 2-3 prime at a time.

That's basically what I do with two of my tribe mates. One that stay near the trex, feeding him narco and stim, while one is scouting with a ptero and the last one leading the raptor pack to farm prime meat, then give them to the ptero guy. We starve the trex to put the maximum prime at once then just farm prime 3-5 at the time.

I am such a noob, just now barely able to solo tame a low level Rex, but all I had with me was a Ptero and bed :) Cliff worked well but had trouble getting him to stay agroed coz of all the tasty tidbits around him.

yea i know starving doesnt make it go faster but i can farm alot of prime meat fast so i prefer to starve them first to cut down on the amount of trips i need to do and save me time. i can throw 35 prime at once which normally i would do in like 7-8 trips in about an hour. so instead just starve it for an hour while your afk or something then just do it all at once.
