Report a translation problem
From what I gathered the pet was no where near where he was. So they seem to wander when you die. They can be killed by other players or animals though.
It is only true if he is close enough. If he died really far away and took some time to get back, it might have been killed and the message won't show at the screen.

I believe a gps tracking system in game is coming, so we can keep track of the dinos

You could send them an email as I doubt they take time to read all the threads. Then again, they might not read your email either, but it is worth trying.
Good luck mate, I would personally like to know when my dino are sometimes.
