No clue what happen with ur Pte but never happen with mine.
I lost 2 Pte when i leave the option as neutral or attacking target.
Didnt lost a single one since i leave it at passive
And, when i have them following me in passive mode, they will always follow you even if they got attacked (they will ignore it due to passive attribute)
Maybe your Pte got bugged
so you are also telling me, that it doesnt fly in circles like its on some bad drugs, when u put it on follow and not mounting it? cause it flies crazily in circles when i put it on follow. and its a bug and it happens everytime, you cant tell me it doesnt happen for you.
its prevents them from doing there little over travel.
alternatively, you can halt them In the air this way.
when I cave farm; I drop with a parachute from my bird real high up and spam Halt while I fall, to keep him there safe away from griefers.
when im done, I look at him with spyglass and recall him down to me...
yes, if you leave them on follow, sometimes they can go nuts circling you (ptera specifically, bird don't really do this.) but I can generally tell him to STOP, and Re-follow, and he adjusts...
don't leave them on follow; think of them as stationary when landed. helps.. its not a solution, but a decent Band-Aid until they add walking on the ground.
EA.
To many things in this game that are against spening the time to tame better creatures.
I've noticed that if they are set to follow, when you hop off, they don't move. You can then tell them to stay, and 9/10 times they will do just that. Though, sometimes they may walk a few steps out of defiance it seems.
I would like to see something in the future along the lines of stopping this wandering feature, as when I get off my flyer, I want them to stay where I landed so I know exctly where my escape vehicle is.
An added note, I keep my Ptera on Passive. But if we get attacked while landed, it can get messy :/
the problem is , if its on passive it wont defend itself or wont fly away right? so its very vulnerable to dying, thats not an option either^^. thats why i kept them on neutral.
its just that they are buggy as hell in general.
They are awful at defending themselves anyways. I keep them on passive so that if a aggressive dino attacks me or my other pets it won't panic and fly off. I can often run to it and mount, immediatly climbing up a safe distance. That is, if it hasn't walked 50 yards away from me.
But, I agree, it is very vulnerable. This is why wild Pteras go airborne immediatly. If mine did that, I'd be left alone on the ground. It's a gamble, but it's one I have to make to help ensure my own survival.
Second... You absolutely can read a map while mounted, use your scroll wheel to scroll in, I do it regularly.
Thirdly... Stop doing stupid ♥♥♥♥ and getting your pets killed.
- Set your flying mounts to Passive, this prevents them from getting into crazy fights where you can't get to them again. Please note you will have to give them some health in case they get attacked so you have time to get to them and mount them.
- Use your hot keys to change from passive to attack your target as needed.
- Don't dismount in hostile areas with a pet that simply can't defend its self well (ie any flying mount).
- Land flying mounts only where there is enough area for them to actually land.
- When you dismount a flying mount in a questionable area, immediately set him to follow you, this prevents him from flying off down the mountain without you.
Basically it sounds like you are making horrible mistakes over and over and not learning anything from them. And why in the world you would ever dismount a megaladon in hostile waters, out in the middle of the ocean is beyond me. I would probably suggest putting him to passive as well. You can always use the hotkeys to make him defend himself if you are attacked, but that prevents him from running off without you.
let alone they can carry like 500lbs; and stay up for a Long time...
otherwise, thread is full of decent information on how to manage your fliers.
Also maybe you should watch how you fly and dont jump off them when you are up in the air?
You can press j and it will follow you and it has a bigger distance than t.
Stop crying and submit bug reports , because well that is the reason you bought an early access game right? or did you think you were getting something fully done and perfect?
Maybe for once in your life you can READ and comprehend that when they said this is early access alpha and the people buying are helping the development and help sculpt the game you were not getting a bug free perfect finished game.........
Start creating constructive and good bug reports instead of crying about everything that does not go YOUR way :)
C
Make sure you do not dismount mid-air, make sure close to the ground.
Yes they do fly around when you set them to follow but as long as the ground is even I can mount back to it, just needs a little practice of jumping and timing it.
