Please learn to tell the time...
Every server announcement says that the time zone used is EST, however the times stated are EDT. Please use the proper time zone, so those of us who do not use those times can actually google the proper patch time. Or at least use GMT on your EU server announcements.

For those of you who cannot read or understand simple english:

If the current time is 9:10am EST, and you say "In 20mins it will be 10:30am EST" something is wrong. Now if you little kiddies wanna believe that because the devs have made a great game they get to rewrite the timezones, then sure go ahead, just make sure to buy them dinner before you blow them.
For anyone with a little sense in their head that understands why this is incorrect and is a very simple fix, which this is a very simple request for, thank you for not being a moron.

"omergggawwd they used EST the worlds gonna end!"

um... yeah... EST is a STANDARIZED timezone. EDT is a AMERICAN Standard time.

Not to mention its ETA not a THIS IS WHEN IT WILL BE OUT.

Get over it, and learn how to google, as google WILL give you EST time so you can "Figure" it out with a tiny bit of math on your part.

No it is not. On my server they just said "in 20 mins at 10:30amEST the servers will go down" It is 9:30am EST right now. It is 10:30 EDT right now.
I understand the delays, the delays are fine, as they are for a very good reason, they have noticed bugs in the patches and need to fix them before they release it (want another wipe anyone?)
But completely using the incorrect time is just stupid, and easily fixed. If a bus is late by an hour due to traffic, it has a reason but is still annoying. If the bus timetable is completely wrong so you turn up an hour late, that is a big mistake which could easily be fixed.

Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) is 4 hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). This time zone is a DST (daylight saving time) time zone and is used in: North America, Caribbean. This time zone is often called Eastern Daylight Time.

Yeah... um... yes it is.

The amount of blatant disrespect and self entitlement on this forum is truly mind boggling. These devs have created a marvelous world to become immersed in, and yet these posts....

They used the EDT time, but labeled it as EST, always have. So the time they say the server is going down on the server browser is one hour off, which causes many people in my server to log in and start doing things thinking they have another hour and a half left, when instead they only have 30mins.
I now wish i had posted this on reddit instead... Seems like there are only illiterate children on the steam forums..

And you just proved yourself wrong again. Congratulations.

EDT is NOT an American standardized timezone. It is an International timezone used in several countries (by your own admission) just like EST is. The difference being summertime, not summertime.

EST is NEVER the correct timezone on the US West Coast during summertime. The only acceptable alternative to not using EDT or the UTC timezone is saying "Eastern"

And even ignoring all of those semantics, doesn't change the fact that saying EDT is wrong in the context, when the devs obviously mean the EDT time - which will keep messing up anyone trying to convert the timezones to their local time, because it was never correct in the first place.

I have also noted that the devs give time information in EST. When I check the time online at timeanddate, every time I find that the devs are really meaning EDT. So whenever the devs say EST, I translate it into EDT and then I can get an idea of when they are doing updates.

It's funny, cause every single update when it's deployed, according to the time of deployment, is correct according to http://www.timeanddate.com/time/zones/est atleast to me and every single person I know in my timezone.

You mean - In parts of Canada, Carib and two smaller Central American countries? Because the US East Coast is not currently observing EST in the first place...

Maybe I should mention, that I live in Denmark.
