Anyway I could get any other possible ways to fix this issue?
Are the Devs aware of this issue?
Is there any way to fix this?
Please assist if you know how I can recover ownership of bases and dinos, etc. Thank you!
- The Right Hand
I appreciate your help and so you know, I have seen this happen in both multiplayer and single player. For me it was single player.
Thank you again for your help and keep up the great work on the game!
Tribes appear to be identified not by name, but by a unique randomly generated number. The information for this is store in .arktribe files in "..\Steam\SteamApps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\SavedArksLocal" where you will a file(s) with a name like "1470667206.arktribe"
My theory to recover your buildings runs thusly:
- Log in to Ark and create a tribe, call it anything.
- Log out, and go to "..\Steam\SteamApps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\SavedArksLocal"
- There should be at least 2 .arktribe files in there (If there is only one this is not going to work; if there are several it shouldn't matter). Copy them out somewhere as a backup.
- Look at the "Date Created" for each .arktribe you find.
- Identify the oldest one: this will belong to your original tribe.
- Identify the newest one: this will belong to your new tribe.
- Rename the oldest one to .bak; if forinstance it was called 12345678.arktribe, rename it to 12345678.bak
- Rename the newest one to match the original name of the oldest one. If for instance the newest one is called 87654321.arktribe, rename it to 12345678.arktribe.
- Log back into Ark, and keep your fingers crossed!
Good luck!It is possible I missed something as I am not perfect but this is a serious disappointment considering how much time I have wasted due to this bug.
I really hope others learn from this. If you play single player, do not create a tribe.
@gypsythief - have you tried this? At this point I don't guess I have much to lose.
I tried creating a tribe, building a structure and then leaving the tribe, but I retained ownership of the structure, so I couldn't test it unfortunately.
It is therefore just guess work, I'm afraid.
I will let you know once I have had a chance to test it.
This entire experience has really halted the fun I was having with the game at the moment though so it may not be to terribly soon, however, I do appreciate the feedback.
At this point, as pain staking as it is, the only real option may be to simply delete the local content and start all over from scratch, making sure NOT to use the tribe feature in single player. This pains me but, with time, its not like I cant rebuild I guess.
Thanks for all the help and feedback gypsythief and TheRightHand!
