About oil.
could you guys add some oil nodes on land somehow? Since I'm a solo player, usually play offline, and have a severe depth anxiety, I can't enter the ocean. I really dislike crossing rivers but then I can just close my eyes till I reach the other side, with the occasional short peek, but oceans really are a no go for me. It sucks for me not being able to have access to oil to make the stuff later in the game..

Another idea might be to add the ability to craft synthetic oil through various crafting processes, in order to not make it too easy, but still possible for people like me to make stuff that needs it.

Since this thread has been revived, I forgot to mention that the Southwest part of the island is a great spot to look for oil plumes that are immediately next to the shore. Mind you, sharks tend to be pretty close to the shore that region...but they're easy to escape at such shallow depths.

Unfortunately, you'll probably be out of luck for the pearls.

Oil extraction from plants would be great.

You also need to look at the game balance. Right now oil is on the outside while metal ore is on the inside mountain area's. Each zone and area has a resource that the other zones don't. There really is no perfect zone that has everything easily available and in high demand. That's one of the reasons I'm pretty sure they put oil on the outside ocean area only. Those on the coast have to go way in land to get ore, those inland have to go way out to get oil. Just the way it is.

You just need to find those oil resources on "terraces". There are quite a few that are "half way down" the ocean. They should be harvestable with either some points in oxygen (5 points should be sufficient) or a water pet or Lazarus Chowder. There are even some spawns at the edge of the shallow water where sharks do not attack you.

With 200 Oxygen and a tamed Megadolon you can even harvest on the bottom of the ocean and enter the underwater caves (no dinos there). That way you can even gain Pearls. I did that when testing some stuff with an underwater cave concerning the taming of a Plesiosaurus. You have about 10~15s additional breath to the time require to dive down and reach the surface on the back of a shark. It was enough to collect a complete pearl spawn, I am sure it's also enough to harvest ~4 oil spawns in a group.

Wrong. Metal can be found on almost every hill. Even on the little mini island right below where you can swim up easily! There spawn no carnivores.

There could be certain plants that spawn only in certain biomes . For example, in the marshes right .

Well I can tell you right now I have to go about 1/4 way across the map just to get any decent ore. It's at least a 30-40 minutes evolution for just one run.

They put oil veins on land in Scorched Earth. They can be found in the East part of the map's center. Between Lat 30-60, Long 60-85. There are no deep oceans, but sand dunes, and most of the rivers are dry. The 3 obelisks are surrounded by water but even then they are just big puddles. You might find the new map to your liking.
