How does the Spyglass work?

Hey all, stupid question - I cannot for the life of me work out how to use the spyglass - what do you do to look through it? I put it in my hotbar, and when I press the corresponding number my character takes off the cap and holds it, but if I hit Use nothing happens, and with Attack she pistol-whips with it. I assume I'm missing something obvious :P

Right Click off your mount

hold the righ mouse button and it zooms in when it's held in your hand.

I remapped right-click to Use (yeah I play too much minecraft), what's its default function again? I probably bound some other key to that function...

Whichever key you have bound to the aim down sights button.

That reminds me - the spyglass also magnifies stars in the night sky to make them look like large circles. That's...well...either that spyglass is made of incredibly advanced optics that are beyond sci-fi levels (not even our largest, most powerful telescopes can do what the spyglass does) or all the stars you can see at night in ARK are in the same solar system as the ARK itself.
