Dilophosaurus vs real Dilophosaurus
I just wonder why they made the Dilophosaurus like the one in Jurassic park and not went for a more realistic one? Since they changed the Spinosaurus after the newly discovery that they walked on 4 legs and not 2 it got me wondering if they went for a realistic dinosaur game or not. I think it would be kinda neat to see a bigger and more similar dilophosaurus to the one we humans have discovered. Just putting my thoughts out, just curious :D

Cause doing this give devs more freedom to add subspecies and stuff

I want both in the game honestly, and the real ones should pick on the "fake ones"

I think you will generally find that Ark is somewhere in between. Velociraptors for example are tiny (about the size of in game Dilos, or possibly smaller). So instead of creating Velociraptors like Jurassic Park, they instead went with the Utah Raptor as the base and just called it a "Raptor" instead of a velociraptor. In this way they were both more accurate, while still giving people what they expected when they saw a raptor (since most people's exposure to dinosaurs is limited to the movies).

In the case of the Dilo's found in Ark, you can see based on the Wiki that the hood wasn't mentioned at all in reality, so likely the inclusion of the hood is due to the representation (and expectations) created by Jurassic Park.

So don't expect the game to provide entirely realistic stats/information in regards to the specific dino's they are portraying, but they do generally appear to try and make them fit reality, but in some cases it is necessary for them to use some artistic license for entertainment purposes.
They thought the frill and spitting was cooler. A bigger Dilo would be similar to the raptors, too.

The dinos in ARK are known genera, but new species, so they will always be a little different from the fossil record [like the Pteranodon having teeth, and the frill spikes on the Trike [which are based on Styracosaurus]]. Some are just more scientifically accurate than others.

Also, if we are thinking about just adding a bunch of dinos without thinking about when they all lived, wouldn't it be awesome to see a Prosauropoder or maybe even a dreadnoughtus schrani? Would be amazing to see something larger than an apatosaurus in ARK :D
Because the JP Dilo is sexier to the wallet than just another mid sized Therapod.

Ah i see, thanks for the comment, I actually think it's kinda cool that they added that hood on the Dilos, but would love to see some more realistic ones, bigger ones :D

Exactly! :D
Real Dilophosaurus would just be a smaller Utahraptor. Nothing unique about it, really.

Ah i see, thanks :) I would love to see some Velociraptors in the game actually, I do not think it's that hard to add, they could kinda just reform some things, use the base of the utahs. Tho dunno, but would be nice to see. Also to see some Utahraptors with some more feathers than others :D

if you go see jurrasic world. Theres a line in there....

"We have always used the dna of modern specias to fill in the gaps. If these animals had evolved in the wild naturally they would look very different and have differnt behaviuos then they have here."

basicly saying nothing in the world of jurrasic park are real dinos
so comparing to jurrasic park is useless :p
