How do you acquire Oil?
So I am at the level were I have unlocked the fabricater and would like to build it.
I have no idea how to get oil though.
I'm guessing underwater? Taming a Sarco as I write this and I would like to acquire some.
So is it underwater and what does it look like exactly?
Thanks for any feedback :D

I have not yet been able to try harvesting it, but from what I saw in game, near a shore line, a mini volcano looking thing spewing black ooze, my guess is an oil vein.

Yes, it was under water though.

They look like little black rocks underwater that give off black bubbles, just go hit it with a pick and you gather oil.

Under water black rocks with a raising black oil stream kinda like a marker, use a metal pick axe. I recommend you stash your oil every time you come up for air. other wise your going to rage when the sharks get you and they will

Yes, little rock mounds under water with black bubbles floating up above them.

On the shark mention above...Can a Sarco outswim them and or can they fight them ok?

from what i heard sarcos are hit or miss on fights with megas if u can manage it get a mega and just level it they practically 1-2 shot them after 500% dmg

Sarco are fine as long as there not to many sharks IMO Sacro and Turtles are the best water mount as you can escape onto the shore to get away from from shark gangs that will rip apart anything.

I was thinking of a shark but the posts of all the sharks dying randomly made me think otherwise :(
I would really like one though.

i honestly havent had a single incident of my mega dieing Bar my idiot friend surfacing in an underwater cave withit so i honestly think people arent carefull with them and its user error

I use my sarco. He is only lv 19 I think. I am 57 with 320 oxygen. I just take him out and dive straight down, using alt to look around as I dive. If the sharks start to chase me at the surface, by the time im to the oil they have given up or out of sight. Just go down get a few veins, surface for air and repeat. Sarco's easily outswim(speed that is) sharks.
Fighting sharks on the sarco can be a pain, they seems to get under the sarco and get you stuck. Sometimes I find myself not being able to hit them. Other than that, great mount!

i have boostes my speed and find it much easier not to spend time taming and losing the mega's but since the last update the icy'ies seem to help out, really fast but really weak so look out
I built an underwater pen (large enough for 3-4 lodons) but in the end, I love wayy too much my "pink flippers". they are so cute and so quick that with 220 oxy (will reach 260 by the time I'm 67) I'm able to go get some pearls and/or oil at the bottom of the ocean. You just have to keep an eye on plesias and lodons as you don't want to fight them with dolphins. I keep a sarco, turtle and spino as guard dogs of my lil flippers.

Note: dolphins take only about 30-45 minutes to tame (40-45 min is for REALLY high lvls one, mine was 72, and that's if you don't have prime meat) so, imo, it's the best mount to use to go underwater simply because if sh!t happens, you did not lose a 3-4 hour taming process and also because turtles and sarco are too slow to go deep and up before you run out of air and because lodons are too much a hassle to KO + take too long IMO to tame for how quick you can lose them to other lodons.

Low level dolphins only take 15-20 minutes.

I built a bridge out from my base, sealed it so only I can move across and built a series of walls around the oil with chests above. This is the best possible means, although tedious. It did take me 4 days.

I was finally able to get some oil last night after probably a week of trying. What actually did the trick for me, was I tamed a little herd of turtles. I have about 6 of them (for now) and they are legit awesome at killing megas. ALL I've been leveling up on them has been health, and they're just absolute tanks. I managed to tame a mega last night, and I set my turtle army to guard the mega and overnight my turtles had killed at least FIFTY megas (going by the amount of mega teeth in their inventory), and I had only lost one turtle.

They're slow as can be, so probably no good for deep sea ops, but for defending your favorite fishies they're my new best friend.
