i try it so much time with my scorpion i get a lvl 20- Argentavis in 3-4 hits but he loss nearly 95% life

with my bow and arrow i get nearly the same result its for me impossible to tame a lcl 30+ argentavis if he had only about ~700 hp but over 1000 to 2000 torpor >.<

in my case, i tame argentavis with mass-bloodpack rush.

clear near area first, set my buddys little bit away.
shoot 1 tranq arrow for pulling and spin argen with my amazing step.
almost use 50+ bloodpack and finally knock him down at soul match.

lol, shoot with tranq.... wait 5 seconds, shoot with tranq... wait 5 seconds, repeat... it's easy

Have you actually tried you know...not lobbing arrow after arrow into an argent...or bothered to make a shelter you could shoot from. Basic Human Intelligence would have promoted you to SLOW DOWN AND LET THE POISON SINK IN.

Use your brain.

i wait even 10 sec but if the argentavis dont skill on his own into HP he die neary instantly ...

i get most dinos with 50-70% life until he is unconscious but this bird ♥♥♥♥ me up

You're not waiting between shots. I've tamed 17 argents in the last week with my tribe of 22 members.

man.. after arrow X6 damage to flyer patch, waiting is useless.
with arrow, flyer melt down even tranq arrow. (except tamed one)
wild argen's hp cant stand until topor go.

currently best way is fist + bloodpack.

I knocked out 2 argentavis today, 74 and 87. Used tranq arrows. The 74 was killed during taming when I fell through the world, the 87 finished up at level 122. No issue knocking out 30+ argentavis here...

The reduced it to 4x dmg, it hasn't been 6x dmg in over a week now.

Acording to testing I have seen posted up looks like you only need about 3 second between shots for Max effect. 5 is still good but the 10 someone else was posting is absurd.

We're finding this annoying as well. I can see the air damage thing on PvP servers but we (PvE) don't need it. We killed several trying to tame some - probably took 3-4 tries per to get one without killing it. It WAS amusing watching my bro try to punch one out but I was saying, dude, with 300% melee damage you're probably hitting it harder than a tranq arrow.

We never really had this problem until we cranked up the difficulty offset and started dealing with higher level dinos, who often have insane torpor and require goofy amounts of tranq arrows. Dino stat balance is random so you could have a dino with a stupid huge food bar (which sucks) and weak combat stats, and/or one with lowish health but insane torpor, and with some dinos, the health growth vs torpor growth is whack regardless of randomness (in that their health will be low relative to their torpor, making taming without killing tricky/impossible).

Taming argentavis (and sabers it seems) is often a matter of luck - find one that hasn't damaged itself fighting already, and hope RNGesus is in your favor and they have an above average health along with a lower than average torpor pool. If you get one that's high torpor you'll likely kill it.

"lol, shoot with tranq.... wait 5 seconds, shoot with tranq... wait 5 seconds, repeat... it's easy"

I would imagine most of us understand how to tranq dinos. Waiting 3/5 secs between shots has zero relevance to high level dinos dying from tranq arrow damage.

One possible solution would be kiting such dinos thru tranq trap(s). We haven't tried it and it's not something I want to have to do but it could work to soften them up before tranq arrows.

I took down four in one day last week with bow and tranq arrows. Dilos got two of them, but i tamed and saddled the other two.

Pro Tip: Don't pull back on the bow fully. Just enough to make the arrow fly. This causes much less damage.

And never shot a flying dino you want to tame in the head.
