Regarding Night TIme

I know that a lot of people are complaining about how dark it is at night and how it is unplayable. The common response is that they just should learn to play and craft torches and also that they should be able to see fairly well under the stars.

Well for me and some other people, the moon and the stars does not lit anything. It is pitch black and even with a torch it is hard to see. And do not tell me that it's the same for everyone, only a few members of my tribe have that problem and the others can see quite well in the night.

I'm not complaining or whining about how dark it is, I just want to say that if it's supposed to be that dark then it should be so for everyone. I'm not asking for a buff of night vision, I am just asking for consistency.

On another note, I've tried everything to fix that problem; trying out different option settings, changing the gamma of my screen, different fixes here and there. Nothing works. So if anyone has a fix then please share it so everyone can play on the same level field.

This on the latest patch? what GPU are you running, have you edited any settings via ini files?

* Shader Model 4 (DX9, DX10) mode now looks a TON better, with proper light intensities, shadows and night lighting and dynamic lighting

In which case you simply adjust the gamma setting via the graphics card properties.

I find just removing the night all together has imporved my game play by 100%, for me the night added nothing other then a forced brake in my play time.

You can't possibly expect the Devs to cater for every screen in existence. Either turn the gamma up in game or play around with your screen brightness and settings until you find what works.

I love dark nights, setting gamma should be disabled on Official servers.

Erm its night in the jungle how light do you think it is. I love the night gives me chance to make narcotics sparkpowder and melt the metal or even go round and check on the dinos to see what food they have

The way i see it I would be sleeping throught the night anyway, What I had to do when I first played was head back home and sit in my house as soon as the sun started to set and then wait till morning - very boreing. It is unfortunut that I am so much of a wuss that I cant handle not being able to see around me, I panic and start going into a cold sweat. I enjoy the fear i get when I take on a preditor I can see, but when i cant see...nope, no enjoyment there.

If I was a creature in this game - I would likely be a dodo. I will attck when im in a group but Im quick to run away.

you have played for 1.5 hours, give it a shot. You will learn to use the dark for a million and one different reasons

So my friend moved in, and her PC is right next to mine and when I looked at her screen I was shocked to see night time was very well lit, and she could see even without a torch. We both play on the same server which has gamma command blocked. Well..... Turns out my screen has different "modes" and had some kind of filter on making everything darker and yellow-er. SO i changed that, and also tilted my screen down more towards me.... Voila! I can see just as well as she can now. However I understand that may not be a solution for you. I felt your pain dude!
