No, you're right. There's no setting currently. Before, they'd show up in the chat window and you could page up to see it again. Now it's in a completely new window that disappears quickly. I've missed the messages a few times because I just happened to be up for a second and came back to see it disappearing.

They need to add it back to the chat window.

ok i found a quick fix is is this lol ..............................................................................so the length of a message is the length of how long the message is displayed for well that sucks......................................

Ask the admin of the server to up the display time. Although, if the message is not updated frequently, it could get annoying to see the same message for 60 seconds each time you login... Screenshot utility might be your best bet. Steam overlay default is F12.

You cant change the time of the displayed message. Not yet.

are you taking about welcome message or the broadcast message ? coz im takking about the Cheat BroadCast comman, coz if you type in something like (ETA NewPatch 10Mins) it only shows for like 1second But if you do .................(ETA NewPatch 10Mins)................. it last a lil long 20sec maybe

Try this...
Make a backup of your MOTD.

Additionally, verify the global ini message delay line is set to 20 or more seconds.

Then in the console type:

enablecheats ADMINPASSWORD
then type:
cheat SetMessageOfTheDay Server Maintenance blahblahblah care deeply about your time blahblahblah test complete. (or whatever other message you want to put)

Then time the message once you hit enter and adjust accordingly.

Let us know how it works!

Note:
This should alert new users that join in the timeframe between when you broadcasted the message and when you will be taking the server offline.

Edit: be sure to use timezones when projecting a down time for the server. ie. GMT 7:00 etc...

Testing, it changes the message, just can't get it to display to in game clients, standby.

Ok so I found a workaround... I figured out that the shorter the message the less time it displays. So, to combat the timer expiring before people have a chance to read it, you can simply use a Sh*t load of spaces after the message... It will treat each space as a separate character. Although, you might want to update the MOTD anyway just to warn incoming users.

For example:

SERVER REBOOT IN X minutes (.....................................................................................................................)with all those spaces afterward.

Each should buy you around .5 seconds. :D

TL:DR

Open Notepad, type your message, hold spacebar until content, copy/paste into the console, done.

Did you use spaces or periods behind the message? I typed, "cheat broadcast blahblahblah (held spacebar for 5 seconds) then hit enter and it sticks on my screen for a while...

tryed that didnt last long 2-5sec

Hmm, that's odd... did you adjust the MOTD portion? Mine literally gives me around .5 seconds for each space. Try more words? :D
