[QUESTION] Can I build an underwater base?
Guys, I need help.

I have a tribe with 25 players on a server that works during the week PVE, PVP on weekends.

We are strong and we are growing fast, but we have two rival tribes on the server that has the ability to raiding our base and destroy our hard work.

We have two ideas:

1) Build a small underwater structure and accommodate hidden chests to save rare resources, expensive equipment to manufacture ...
In that case we could tame many water Dinosaurs and leave them aggressively to protect resources.

2) Build a complete underwater house with floors, gates, fences, hidden chests and dozens of aquatic dinosaurs doing as much as possible not to be noticed in this hidden location.

Option 1 I know it works, because I hid Wooden Foundation + Wardrobe underwater to save oil and pearls while collecting with Megalodon.

The question to apply option 2 is:
Building an underwater base (fully closed), the interior will be filled with water or inside the house can breathe normally? If I log into the house I will drown?

If it gets full of water we have the problem with oxygen, it is not a perfect alternative to hide a base and items!

Otherwise, it's a fantastic option!

ATM there is no way to "drain" a submerged house, but i have heard they are going to implenent something like this in the future.

Not atm, but underwater Buildings are planned

Not at the moment no, you cannot build underwater bases. However, the new Plesiosaurus coming should allow you to build on its back like other Dinos when the impliment it. SO theoritically it may be a feature they add later? Would be neat.

It's going to be filled with water yeah. You probably will drown ;P

There WILL be an option, I assume within the month or two, that there will be airtight constructions so you CAN build underwater like that.

yeah, we need to borrow a minecraft sponge, so if you make a fully enclosed structure underwater, you can get the water out :)

Build in an underwater cave as they have air.

Was going to suggest this as well. Building in underwater caves is very viable. Make sure to place several auto turrets around to tag raiders as they emerge from the water.

Just build in a cave air, room, great defence, birds never come down there... expect that one time but... yea no birds

You can build in underwater caves in PVP and PVE

OK, undestand it.

But i can place a base underwater, near the surface, only to storage rare itens, right?

I only need Oxygen :bbtcat:

If i build structures in underwater caves i dont have any problems with this?

See a lot of people talking about "blocking caves". It's only to surface Caves?

I think i'll try this sometime :)

The type of people who complain about blocked caves are the type of people who will never go to the effort to even find an underwater cave, much less complain about it when somebody beat the to it. It is more likely they'd complain that the water prevents them from getting there. These are the people who not only prefer the path of least resistance, they're unwilling to even contemplate any other.

There are a number of underwater caves suitable for habitation, we've got an alternate base in one ourselves. Good place for stuff you want to keep really secure.

you cant build beds underwater, but some things like smithy works. also you can place randomly chests under water and store stuff there. they are hard to find.

This is the first idea, to save some resources and others if we got raided in the PVP Weekends.
