Cold and Hot - Inside a house/in general
I stayed inside my wood house and died after 15min afk'ing. I had a full food and water bar, that's what I checked before. I didn't know why I died until I went another time 5min afk and my health was pretty rapidly draining while I get the notice for being cold (I am wearing 3 Leather/2 Chitin Armor).

So, a few questions about this:

1. Should players get overheated/freezing inside a house?
2. Is it normal that rain comes through wooden ceilings?

On another note:
3. How come that I get freezing while standing between two campfires? Or overheating while standing in the rain.

Is there probably already a dev note out which I just didn't read? If yes, I would appreciate the link to it :)

No hating or bug report but just a few thoughts about the current system there.

Try using a torch that reduces the cold as the torch is right with you. Also when you can get hide armor for chest / pants as they are more insulating.

Hot and cold do seem to overact a lot

I got leather legs, gloves and boots. Using a Torch inside the house seems a bit weird to me and I can't light one while being afk for 15min.

There should be a house icon on the right, otherwise your house is not complete and you are treated as standing in wild.
Press V to show current temperature and your resistance.
The coldest i've seen is -10 degree centigrade. And your cold resistance should increase to 100+ when standing next to a campfire and inside the house.

Cold does get a bit silly sometimes. Standing around in full chitin armor, I had to stand next to two lit forges and a campfire in order to stop freezing to death. But I'm sure they're going to fix it eventually.

The biggest problem is that the hot/cold changes way too rapidly. I can run across a region border and jump instantly from 30 degrees to -2 degrees.

Also, there are no sub-zero temperatures in tropical islands. Not unless you're standing up very high on a mountain.

Anyway, I'm sure the devs will work on the weather/temperature system some point in the future. Here's hoping for real thunderstorms (with lightning hitting the ground, too) :)

Yes, I get everywhere in my house the house buff. That's why I wondered while I get cold there but I'll check it again.

Did the devs said anything about this topic yet?

I get this a lot. I would much prefer the Heatwaves and the Frozen days were less frequent.
It would make them more of a deal when they arrived and require some last minute strategy changes.

Right now it seems like every day is "chilly" or "kinda hot" then every second day is "frippin' Freezing!" or "Boiling!". Torpor seems to only have a very slight advantage (the equivalent of taking out a torch).

Plus the whole temperature thing is a bit off-center.
1°C and my character is dying? Come on, I live in Scotland, we go to the beach in that temperature!

Does your house have a door and is it closed? You can also try standing in various corners of your house .. you may find one corner is better than others.

My thatch hut I actually put nearly on top of a campfire and not surprisingly the flames don't burn it down but it does light the hut up and it's quite warm inside, whether the campfire is on or not.
But it depends on where your whole camp is as well I guess.

Skill Fortitude. There is a reason why we can do this, it helps a lot. I run around with a full metal armour and I have rarely problems with temperature.
I know about fortitude and and mine is 10 right now. How much is yours?

Yes, four sides closed with ceiling and a door (mostly opened though. Does this make a difference?)

The house bonus depends on the material that you have used to build it. You could upgrade your wood to metal or atleast stone. But yeah, the temperature system is weird. I never had the problem with freezing to death inside my house while afk. But sometimes it gets a little cold indeed. I agree with the user above me. we had colder winters/hotter summers (ok not the 45° heat waves :D ) and I survived. Must have a very high fortitude level XD
PS: Yes, open doors decrease the house bonus.

There seems to be some missbelieve in here on how certain clothings do work:

Look at the protection values of pants for example (cold / heat prot)
Cloth: 8 / 15
Hide: 20 / -15 (minus)
Chitin / Flak: 15 / -7

None except cloth helps you against overheating (hyperthermal), they even make it worse. So the first thing you should do when overheating is getting rid of the armor if you don't need it atm. That's often enough to get from the big flame symbol back to the little flame.

I've seen the temperatures go from 30+ to -16 and then back to 20+ something in a matter of minutes, while standing inside my house. (house symbol and all) Waiting for a night to pass.
(North East Planes)

I don't mind having high and/or low temperatures, but in such short succession after each other is driving me nuts.
Really. One moment I'm freezing my nickers off in full leather gear and the next moment I'm melting in my Cloth stuff.

This game needs some decent ALL Weather gear (at the cost of armor) and I ain't looking at the cloth for that. (needs to be better)

being inside a house doesn't make you immune to heat/cold, it simply gives you increade hypo/hyperthermal insulation. You also have to see the small house icon above your status indicators on the right to be getting the buff.

Try raising your fortitude.
