Size Chart Comparison to what was, and what is being made.

...I really dont understand why this game has such odd sizes for Dinosaurs. Its all wrong in every direction I see it. Fun, but wrong. Everyone is so excited about these Plesi's and Shastas, jsut like they were about Megalodons. But it doesnt mean you are getting what is really the Dinosaur being named.

When I saw the Great Whites...I mean "Meglodons" I was surprised that they thought that tiny little minnow was teh real deal.

They dont actually have lore in ARK (I think). And when its released I will have modifed this game so much ('Cuase its Unreal Engine) it wont even be recognisable as the same game :P

And about that...you do know the first life in the oceans that crawled out on to land are giant scorpions, right? They werent poisonous though. Venom and poison is a relatively NEW evoloution. (DIlos didnt spit poison BTW...Jurrasic Park did.)

I think it's more about gaining what could be a viable underwater pet, as Megalodons are currently riddled with issues (such as randomly dying/exploding and somehow summoning every shark in the damn ocean to it's location pediodically).

You do know that there is no scientific proof of how large a meg has actually grown because they've don't have a actual carcass of a meg, only the fossil remains of the teeth.

There were many genus of plesiosaur some reaching 20 meters and others no more than 1 meter. The mauisaurus is one of the largest which reached up to 20 meters. Elasmosaur, another genus of plesiosaur only reached 15 meters or so.

A conservative size for the megalodon was around 15 meters, which puts it at about 1.5x the length tip to tail of the typical t-rex. Though the megalodon could in theory grow to over 20 meters.

I like what they did and don't complain so much about inaccuracies. In games, sometimes you have to bend the rules a bit. The ocean in this game is so small and no-where near the size of the actual ocean, so they had to make some concessions in their size to facilitate a menacing threat in the waters.

If anything, you could argue that having a static size for a given species is unrealistic. But it is a game, so just have fun.

This is because most of the bone structure of a shark is cartilage and rapidly decomposes. However they do have a scale by which they can somewhat gauge the size based on the teeth.

There is no proof that spino ever exsisted either, but people are saying thats a real dinosaur as well.
