Wooden Fence Foundation Bugged???
as the title states is it intended that the wooden fence foundation (which looks like a fence itself) is build into the ground?

cause when i try to build a "balcony" of fence foundations, i have to stack it like 10-15 times to make it look like a fence . and then demolish it from bottom to top and leave the top one stay.

It's meant to fit into the ground currently (really silly, if you ask me, as it makes it difficult to see where you're placing it,) and you're supposed to put walls on top of it. I'm using stone walls on wooden foundations, because with wood walls they don't always face the same way. That drives me crazy.

I'd like to see the placement improved; the snapping is really finicky. I'm hoping for "click to snap, allow for rotation, click again to place," function.

They really ought to make the foundation sit on top of the ground (like an actual fence) and have walls you place on it cover the model itself. Function would be the same, placement would be easier, and it would have a wider number of uses.

then they should make a "real" wooden fence foundation, and make this as the "picture" states a FENCE instead. cause i want to have balconies ; /

As the name implies its a fence FOUNDATION, you're supposed to put the "fence" on top of it. Although I can see where you come from as I have noticed what they look like when they happened to snap to my thatch/wood foundations.

They are "foundations" for fences. Not actual fences themselves. You use them to place fences on top of them. The wooden beams are there to make it look like its actually stable when placed on uneven terrain. So it doesn't look like its half floating and that should fall over in a real life situation.

It is not a fence it is a foundation meant to support a fence, the fence is built from walls. Everything that you build in this game that is not a dino gate or spike wall requires a foundation to support it the reason that it looks the way that it does is it has 2 posts buried in the ground to make it stable and level with a beam across them to distribute the weight of the walls evenly and give a solid anchor point across the width of the wall. Its really just common sense if you think about it, place a wall on the ground without an anchor point and the wall will just fall over at the slightest touch, things are meant to be somewhat realistic in this style of game.

Did I not write that in my post? Im just stating that the NAME of the item gives you no indication that you should be able to use it as a fence.

actually i think the fences are different to the art, but the art version is in the game (or was) just look at the wooden base in the debut trailer (the 'my house' on the mountain one). Hell theres a screen shot on the steam store for christs sake lol. That base has fences... fences that look like the fence artwork i.e. two vertical stumps and one horizontal beam.

Dont blast the guy, he has a point

You are correct a wall is not a fence but as this is early access and things are not all added in yet you can just be patient and wait and see, in the mean time use what we have available that works which is a wall on a fence foundation.
