Suck it up or stop playing.
Thats just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ exploit to use, and i hope those damn palms trees gets fixed because it ruins the game.
I kind of agree. But then at the same time it doesn't seem that unlikely that a big boney creature with limited mobility could get itself stuck up on trees and rocks.
.... but yeah finding your corpse, or the backpack left after the dino that killed you ate your corpse, is often near impossible. Sometimes you know exactly where it is, you get there inside 15 minutes and it's just not there.
I don't get why the timer is so short. I would definitely like a way to customize it, or even a cheat to pull your corpse to you (or teleport you to your corpse) for those times when some BS kills you like falling through the level (happens a surprising amount in caves). Another option would be make the corpse/backpack glow if you're within 10 metres.
Another thing i've started doing, just incase, is keeping 2 sets of weapons/tools/cloths. one for me to use, and one as a backup in a chest next to my bed. that way, if I can't retrieve it, I can always grab the backups so im not starting off in cloth armor again from lack of materials being I solo.
I'm only dying <60 seconds of a run from my respawn point, and I'm always dying on the beach. I'm always looking for the backpack (I've never seen my body lying there to loot, didnt realize that even happened, and only once have I found the backpack)
Yes, I'm aware there is an element of "L2P or GTFO", so thank you for your retarded input on that. Much appreciated. Please let me know that the sky is blue and water is wet. Thank you.
The question was more along the lines of 'is it intended to be so brutally difficult to find your stuff after dying'.
Because as I mentioned above, I'm in my earliest stages, trying to get meat and narco berries to tame my first dinosaur. But I seem to die and lose my narcotics or berry stash (or meats) every time to some random "GO ♥♥♥♥ YOURSELF" raptor/scorpion, then run the very short distance back to that area (again the beach, where I run to to die, not very far from my spawn bed) only to spend 20 minutes looking for a backpack item that doesnt even exist it seems.
I've died in the water to electric eels (I think?) and that was all kinds of LOL for trying to find my stuff. I've died right on the middle of the sandy beach a dozen times, I've died in the short brush surrounding the jungle.
100% of the time this is within 60 (MAYBE 120) seconds of running from my spawn point, and only once did I ever find my backpack, and that was because I was afk mixing a drink at my base camp, so i respawned and the backpack was in los as soon as i left my hut.
I feel like at some point I'll manage to scrape together a gun and some metal and other stuff, get jumped by a t-rex, respawn and basically be rolled back to thatch and wood with hours of play to get back to where I was, and honestly, as UBER HARDCORE AWESOME LUL L2P as that is, it doesnt sound fun.
So it doesnt sound like im missing anything. Basically dont die with anything valuable or go ♥♥♥♥ yourself seems to be the way it goes. In which case...hurray.... keep all your cool stuff in storage and never use it. Awesome.
Tips:
- If you know you are going to die try running to an easy spot to find again (ie special rock, on the beach, near a tree, etc...
- Do NOT jump up onto a rock, last time I died on a rock the entire bag disappeared. I broke all the rocks nearby and checked all over, my guess is dying on the rock causes your bag to fall through the world.
- Place multiple beds. When you respawn at a bed it has around a 2 minute timer before you can respawn again. If you place multiple beds you can just respawn at the next one without having to wait for a timer. This can be critical when trying to get your bag from hostile territory.
- Start by putting all your points into health until you have a reasonable amount.
- Train up several small pets to start with, they can help guard and protect you while you are running around trying to tame larger and larger animals. Also please note that even a small pack of dilo's can be helpful and they work to help carry small amounts of items for you as well.
- Carry Stim Berries with you. These can be used to keep you awake if you get stung by a scorpion, they can also be used to give you stamina while running from something bad, and they can be force fed to your mount if he ever goes unconscious for any reason.
Note:
Just saw your last post. It is meant to be difficult but you should be able to find it, especially if you are still very near your base. It is possible if you are playing on a public server that they may have an option set somewhere to disable loot drops, so it may be worth trying a different server if you continue to have problems.
