High GPU usage, overheating ?
Hey, ARK is using 98% of my GPU core and heating the gpu to 80-85c, is my gpu gonna overheat or is it safe? im running all on low using a EVGA gtx 650ti

I wouldnt say its a good temp xD but it wont fry pretty sure it would shutdown before
I would say that is borderline bad. My investigations regarding heat on my own two most recent videos cards showed that it's supposedly the normal operating range of temperature, up to about 80 degrees celcius.

My game currently also pushes the GPU to near max, and my card gets up to about 75 celcius. As high as I'd like it to go.

Since yours runs a little hotter, you may want to check if you have a dusty fan or other airflow problem. I do think that is running just a tad hot. Over long periods of time, that could be bad.

Ok thanks guys, im gonna use my aircompressor to dust out the pc tomorrow and see if it runs cooler :)
contrary to popular beleif GPUs nor CPUs "fry" anymore, motherboards have safe guards to keep that from happening, they will shut down the system before anything happens. but 80-85 for a GPU is a safe zone. so your fine. your start hitting 90-100 then you can worry. i have had an OC GPU at 100c though and not had the system shutdown.

The good old 6xx series runs a bit hot, no worries...
Srsly? I get nervoues when mine is getting to 65... GTX 660.

Worry when it reaches 100, but even then, as Krux said, it has counter-measures.
AMD's cards are set to max at like 90c and before Nvidia was known for running at 100c if im correct i believe the GTX 650 ti's can run at 105c before shutting down. GPU's run hot as hell when they are put under strain. Its fine the computer will shut itself down if it believes its overheating, they tend to just crash.

Using a low end gpu to play a very intensive game is going to push it to high temps. Since you didn't say it is hitting its thermal limit then its fine, but it really depends on what you feel is okay.
Well... that's a bit... sad knowing I was worring all the time for nothing:bbtcat:

yep 105c (sometimes 110)is the danger point, usually shuts down at that point. GPUs run a little cooler than they used to now, thanks to improving tech, but not too long ago (even now really) 80-85 was a common temp for full load.

yeah it's fine but should keep an eye on it though since it's running at 98% used which is extremely high for this game on low settings. Mine runs roughly 60% on low settings like that and I have similar specs. Sounds like something's causing a spike in it.
The higher the temp, the worse it is for lifespan, though I think that most ppl that abuse their card like we do replace ours regularly enough to not have to worry about that too much.. I've run at 90-100c often with my old 470 and it never broke down on me. My PC would shut down around 101-102c i believe. Cleaning out fans can help a lot. Otherwise you could also try vsync to give the card some breathing space.
Thanks for all the comments, from what ive read im in the safe zone then :), is the same with CS:GO, usually goes to 70-80c
Just don't let it hit 90+

Max Temp for the GTX 670 is 97C, then it will start breaking down one by one.
