Cheapest light source in terms of fuel? (Wood)
Does anyone know if certain light sources use up more wood fuel than others? I kind of need to light up my house at this point, because it's so large.

I am currently using an otherwise empty cooking fire.

standing torch

If I'm remembering correctly sparkpowder was the longest lasting fuel for standing torches. If you have the engram it's very cheap to make, so would be better than using wood.

THe light posts are good, but they are spotlights, so you need 1 in each corner. But the light goes through the walls so your entire house will light up on all floors.

My house is 3 stories tall and the middle floor has a light in each corner....you can see it from space.

At 30 oil per 24 hours, I can dive once and have enough oil to last the week.

That isn't a wood tech source though, Splosion. :)

Standing torches? I'll give those a try with some sparkpowder.

i knew standing torches burnt wood slower than campfires; but wasn't aware sparkpowder has better efficiency?

is this the same for campfires?? I assume not??

just want to confirm... now as soon as I get home from work I foresee myself smashing sparkpowder into all my standing torches; cursing myself for not trying it sooner.

I did this test a while back on fuel burn times. IIRC these are roughly the burn times for them

Thatch 2 minutes
Wood 8 minutes
Spark Powder 14 minutes

They might be a bit off but I got these by putting three standing torches down and lighting them all at the same time with 1 unit of fuel in each and waiting for them to burn out.

I assume this would be IRL not game time right.

Did we really need a two year necropost on this?

Yes, because wall torches is the right answer. Also, wood is more time efficient, for producing, than spark powder and has the plus of charcoal.

put a torch inside of the standing torch or wall torch. It uses almost no resources (whatever it takes to make 1 torch) it burns for nearly an hour I think

You're answering a 2 year old thread where this was obviously answered already

If you apply a sparkler skin to a torch you can then dye it. Place the dyed sparkler(torch) into the standing torch. It will burn for a very long time and the color you want it to

Breh, wall torches didn't even exist when this post was made.
