However, later on I managed to tame myself a Phiomia. What a lovely first pet to acquire. They are tanky and are not that slow. If you managed to increase the stamina, you can probably go very far with one actually. Unfortunately, after I got it back to base, my video card crashed and I had to update to the most recent version. When I finally got back in, my Phiomia was gone (most likely dead) and I was killed and raided once again. The Carnotaur aggroed into my area and was eating my house. After dying multiple times, I managed to kill it and get a lot of hide.
It was this point that I finally got another Phiomia and walked back to my house, finding the two people who would help me establish quite a foothold there. We formed a tribe and built a large wooden house on the existing thatch house. We got another Phiomia, and a couple Parasaur and were fine for a while. One we got a Trike and started to feel like we had some power, we got three raptors and we were ready to explore the area for neighbors.
We found three other people who were in a tribe together, but they had only a raptor and no saddle, nor house either. We invited them to our tribe and it was chaotic at first, but we were still working on the kinks of a larger tribe.
Unfortunately, a higher level tribe came and raided us shortly after we had tamed a Scorpion. We were building a Dino Pen above our house and it was coming along. We went out to get wood, when they came and attacked. My first instinct was to run back and try to defend, but I should’ve stayed away with my raptor. I was in love with having a raptor. Everything was lost so quickly and we were completely devastated.
Currently I am back to the Basic 101 part of the game, but the moral of this story is: I got addicted to Ark and I enjoyed every minute of it. Over 40 hours spent in the last couple days. It is unfortunate to lose everything, but this is the way of PVP servers.
I just would like to add that I’d like to get a copy so I can get my brother or a friend to join me in the game. I feel like that would help me keep my attachment to the game since I am stalling while I figure out where I will relocate after losing my base.
Praise king metal man.
The tribe and I went on hourly hunts for food in order to survive, on one of the hunts a raptor chased us all the way to a cave where we hid. In the cave we found another small naked tribe who we killed four out of five of and drugged the last one, we proceeded to use the drugged rival tribe member to appease the raptor outside and escape. Survival of the fittest.
On our ninth hunt two of the eleven tribe members of mine were killed by a trex, we were forced to break the legs of one more tribe member in order to run away and survive. You don't need to out run dinos, only your friends :).
The remaining tribe and I decided to log out for the day in a nearby cave, two of the members and I woke up the next day under the map. We swam for hours until we found a base and were floating underneath the map crying in chat for help from the base's owner, the base's owner panicked and ran away from his base leaving us to drown under the map.
Respawned outside a base, got drugged and held prisoner until they dropped me from the top of the map on an argentavis where I fell to my death. I swear revenge on them to this day.
10/10 would love to experience this with a friend.
To this day my favorite dinosaur remains the argentavis for base diving.
My favorite is definitely the Stego they can take on anything with ease...except the Bronto.
Most fun I have had playing this game was my second night of the game. I had just built a 4x4 thatch hut. I look out the front door and in the distance I see some sort of bipedal dinosaur I take a step out to get a closer look. Its a Carno but its about a half mile away. It looks my direction I sprint into my home and defecate. after 5 min I hear a trike outside so I think I'm safe. I open the door and the Carno is right there. it immediately begins trying to kill me. But it was so distracted trying to get me in my hut that Spitz my Dilo killed it.
I was out on my morning drop-point rounds astride my faithful raptor Echo. We were having a splendid time, killing the occasional Dido whilst enjoying the hot, humid air. After successfully nabbing a Green drop, Echo was laden with wood, stones, narcotics, and other useful building materials. Usually I would turn back to base at this point -- everyone knows running from Spinos on an overburdened raptor doesn't end well for the raptor -- but a familiar green glow arose just across the river. One more drop wouldn't hurt! On we went.
While we were easily able to secure the cache, I was somewhat disappointed that the contents were the same as the previous drop. The narcotics would prove useful, sure, but there was no way I was having Echo limp back to base carrying another load of materials. The poor beast was sure to give into exhaustion. My attention then drifted to a nearby thatch house. A flicker of light could be seen inside, so someone must be home. Perhaps they could benefit from these building materials. Only primitives live in thatch, after all.
So, Echo and I sauntered over to the thatch house of (after close inspection) none other than Bob the Builder.
"Bob!" I shouted, "Bob! I have some supplies for you! Yes... I know I'm on a big, scary raptor, but you can come out. He's well fed, I assure you! Besides, he finds human meat much too tou..."
Then... all hell broke lose.
An eruption of sound came from the cliff high above Bob's shack as a Carno and Parasaur careened off and landed onto the thatch roof. Naturally, the roof collapsed immediately. Bob now found himself in an arena, one combatant trying to eat everything in sight, the other attempting to escape to save its life.
Fortunately, Echo and I were able to get the Carno's attention, and dispatched it a safe distance away from what was left of Bob's shack. The Parasaur, unable to get out of the pen it created, was still frantically trying to free itself. That's when I first laid eyes on poor Bob the Builder.
He lay passed out on his thatch floor, lit torch in hand. I assumed he passed out from the sheer shock of what transpired moments ago -- that commotion would have caught anyone unawares.
Unable to check Bob for injuries or even snuff his torch out, I crafted a storage box, set it beside the shack, and put the building materials inside it. I was now certain Bob needed these supplies more than I. Well, Bob and his new Parasaur friend. I do hope they become friends.
Bob the Builder of Official PVP Server 69, this is how you got your new skylight.
Regards,

Probably the most fun I've had with the game came up after I tamed my first raptor. I had been riding a trike before that so I was unprepared for the speed. The only way I can describe it is like driving a sports car after being stuck in a smart car all your life! I think I must have spent at least ten minutes just zooming around on the male I ended up naming Loki. Since then I use him almost exclusively for riding. He gets in my way a lot with that big tail of his but he's definitely my favorite of the whole pack. For me he's almost like this weird sort of virtual pet as much as anything. I have to say it both frustrates me and makes me laugh when he comes to a dead stop in the middle of a run so he can poo. I sometimes find myself telling him to hurry up and do his business, especially when there's a larger dinosaur trying to hunt us. For me this ability to tame dinosaurs is definitely among the biggest part of the appeal of the game, and despite how much I love exploring and finding other species, raptors will probably always be my favorites.
My favourite dinosaur is a tie between the Brontosaurus and the Raptor. The Raptor embodies what i feel is a great aspect of this game: Awe and wonder, with a dash of triumph and fear. The Raptor is a magnificent predator, with an excellent blend of deadly speed and a ferocious bite. A dangerous creature that i imagine numerous players have fallen to, and countless more will, as its voracious hunger is nearly as dangerous as human determination. As like many players, i plan to tame one and, ride it across the territory. To go spelunking in the deepest grotto; To tread the highest peaks of the sierra; To ride the currents of the strongest estuary; To engage in cartography and anthropology in an alien world waiting to be discovered! Awe and Wonder; Triumph and Fear!
The Brontosaurus, like the Raptor also embodies these attributes, but with a peculiar twist. It is a massive creature towering over the foliage. Where as the Raptor explores from our view, a kindred spirit much like the wolves we tamed long ago in human history; the Brontosaurus is so bewilderingly large that one could build a small fortress on top of it, like the nomads of Lost Eden. It is by the very existence of this creature that man can feel what the first astronauts felt: Being so insignificant in scope, to be so infinitesimally small that your view of reality is rattled to the core.
But, as i said before, nothing is more dangerous as human determination. For with such a revelation one can only be enraptured by the thought, or more so the ambition, of becoming more than what is probable, or even possible. Climbing atop the bones and knowledge of our predecessors, to prove to the natural world that we will not be restrained! Awe and Wonder; Triumph and Fear!
In short: i wish to experience the world you have laid forth, in all its splendour and contribute to the growing list of curiosities that you have created.
Also, I’ll have to choose the Raptor, as the Brontosaurus has given me a mild existential crisis. Although if we can build structures onto a Brontosaurus, i might be back at a tie.
I don't have Ark Survival Evolved yet,
Game has poop button 10/10 IGN would rate...
So when Ark first came out, I found it like a game that was sponsering Jurrassic World like Stranded Deep sponsering another. But I was wrong,Ark was special, unqiue in it's own way. The most awesome thing was you could train dinosaurs and this game was a little educational too.I was watching some videos about it and I didn't know some dinosaurs(or even if they WERE dinosaurs) so I searched them a learned a little about them. Then I entered about 5-12 contests/giveaways of Ark and I didn't win any but I really liked it that some people reacted the way that I would react. The most exciting thing would be having a tribe war or a dino war.The 2 or 3 tribes battle with their TAMED dinosaurs and it would be awesome to see it or even BE in it. But I don't know if anyone has ever done that.
Thank you for taking the time to read,Good Luck to all and I hope I really win ;)
The most fun I've had in ARK has been spawning in to my first character on the eastern coast to find myself pursued by a couple of raptors. I ducked and dodged through driftwood and clusters of boulders, the terrain helping me stay a mere two paces ahead of my attackers. I was fleeing north, with nary a moment to consider how I might deal with the voracious predators.
As I rounded the northeastern corner of the island, I saw the intimidating form of a Tyrannosaurus attacking a group of two Ankylosaurs and three Triceratops. I thought to myself "Wow, that group of herbivores looks really strong! Maybe they can take care of the raptors for me," and continued my approach. I never expected the Tyrannosaur to survive that fight.
But it did. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... finished off its prey one by one and then consumed each corpse in a mere two bites before switching its attention to me. I didn't have time to freeze in horror, so I turned around and went back the way I had come. The raptors raked me with their claws as I passed them, but the time they lost attacking me landed them in the jaws of the oncoming Tyrannosaur. I found that the Tyrannosaur, while powerful, was just as slow. I escaped easily before making the mistake of stopping to catch my breath beneath an Argentavis.
RIP, as both an acronym and sound effect.
My favorite ARK dino is the raptor. Mine has been the best companion I could ask for, and her compatriots provided me with an awesome introduction to the game.
