Pls Fix refining forge
I put in like 9 ores and get like 4 iron ingots . It somehow takes 2 metals sometimes. I am losing alot of ores and they are not easy to get when you are not high level.

Pls fix..

Metal ore is a two for one deal. Two Metal Ore gets you One Metal Ingot.

But why.. it takes alot of time, to get a few of them. I hope they change that

suposed to be 2 metal for 1 ingot. this works well i find.

cuz that's rules of the game
2 ores = 1 ingot

It really doesn't. Go into the mountain sides, make sure the area is clear, and grab a couple of metal, come back down, make your ingot and build a metal pick, rinse and repeat faster and faster. It's not difficult at all. Most rocks I've come across give one or two metal from the beach to the inland streams and that's enough to get rolling on better tools and working towards mountain mining.

I've gotten 40 metal from 1 metal rock before. You need to use a metal pick. You need 12 metal for 6 ingots, 5 for the smithy and 1 for the pick. Using the metal pick gets you SO MUCH MORE. Your base must be in a bad spot, just go to the mountains on a raptor, it's really easy tbh.

Yeah, once you have one or 2 metal picks, and you start gathering in mountains, you'll get tons of metal ore. The rich nodes yield sometimes over 50 units or metal, and that's just in a handful of swings.

@ Op: There are some areas with rocks that yield 30+ ore per rock. I manage to come back sometimes with 200-250 ore in 10 minutes or less, which nets 100-125 ingots. The way its set up right now is just fine, you just haven't hit the right rocks with the right pick yet.

Well, if one has 3 T-Rex carry mules it makes life easier,
if not a T-rex most any dino can make it easier.

One thing I learned bout mountain mining is to bring at least two raptors or one mean Carno or better along. Them mountains can be nasty sometimes.

Some people make a forge up on mountain side where lots of metal ore spawns over time,
process local and ship the refined metals to base.

Build a small hut and put two torches inside and or a fireplace to keep
toasty warm on those freezing evenings and nights .

sorry for off topic but are ingots lighter than 2 ore?

Well, considering that we're getting surface iron - those sorts of deposits range from 30% to 60% iron. So, with loss we should be seeing 1/3 to 1/2 return on ore to refined metal.

Then you are not mining in a cave or from an iron rock on a mountain.

That said of course, we take 100 'whatevers' of mass and turn it into something that weighs 12, so we have some mighty magjc
DarkWolf Jun 26, 2015 @ 4:19am
if i'm not mistaken you get waste when smelting iron. slag. so just the refined iron should be lighter than ore
