Info about gardening and compost?
We planted a large garden last night before we logged out. We planted long grass, savor root and narco berries. We put in a watering system, put two fertilizers in and then logged out.

After the update, I checked on the gardens and they showed to have a havest on all three plots but we were leaving to tame a raptor so I figured I would harvest it all when I got back. Besides the harvest there was also one fertilizer left on each plot.

When we got back from taming the raptor, I went out to the gardens and, to my surprise, there was nothing to harvest at all. Does anyone know how the garden plots work? It was less than 24 hours from the time we planted the plants but it all disappears in that time?

I would love to have some help from anyone who has more experience with gardening in this game. Thank you for your help.

Of course, you have to keep it irrigated. You did that. As long as your crop plot is shown as fertilized your plants will keep growing/producing fruits. As soon as the fertilizer is all used up your plants will slowly get smaller until there's nothing left. Sounds like either you experienced a bug or someone already harvested your crops.

Hi, experienced farmer here, I think. Hope someone can confirm these~

They recently changed how the plots work, basically doubling their growth rates.

In the past it used to take almost a full day for a large crop plot to bloom and fruit, now it seems to be 12 hours (real time). This is provided they have enough fertilizer and are constantly irrigated.

To my experience one fertilizer lasts 6 hours. Without it they don't seem to almost grow at all.

You can put water in a farm plot without any pipes. Just put a waterskin in and remote use.

It seems that Medium Plots give almost exactly the same amount as Large Crops and you can plant all plants on both. Hopefully someone can confirm this.

When a plant is "fruiting" it means it will start to spawn in crops you can gather. Once it's given about 15~20 (Large crop) and one seed, then they end their cycle and die pretty much and consume the seed again and will grow again.

Crops wither slow inside the crop, it's best to only pick them up when you're making food out of them or if you got an electric fridge close.

Even on PvE servers ANYONE can access your farms. ANYONE. They cannot be PIN protected (neither can be your fridges) and if your farms aren't inside secure walls people will steal your crops.

That's what I expect happened to OP.

Oh wow. I hope it is a bug. I would not like to think that someone would be getting into our pen and stealing our crops. :( The only way in would be by flying in. Are people able to do that?

I would have to say that it would be pretty low for someone to do that on a pve server. :(

People fly into open farms all the time to steal crops.

I know people who scout the island on flying mounts just to do this.

yeah crop stealing is a thing, fly by robberies

Well... that is just about as low as you can get, not to mention lazy! GOSH!!

They likely stole your fertilizer too, thus why they had withered and died by the time you got back.

Yes, and all the poop and extra fertilizer in the compost bin. I had a feeling that is what happened but I just didn't want to believe that someone could stoop so low.
