Water Base: How do I go about that?
So me and my two tribe mates on the Night Stalkers PvEPvP unofficial server are planning to start expanding our reach into the ocean, and we thought that having a water base would be the best course of action for our underwater creatures. The problem is we have literally no idea how we are suppose to go about that. Theres a lagoon down the hill from our base that is quite deep and can hold megalodons, but the problem still being we dont know how to go about building the danm structure. We also would like to know the follow:

1. Suggested materials to build water base?
2. How big must the door be, ive seen pics with water bases havign these huge giant doors that open to let in there creatures, but im sure thats not a dinosaur gate, is it metal?
3. How big is the mosasaur, im asking because Im extremly curious after seeing the Ichy dossier.
4. Megalodons, how the living hell am I suppose to go about taming that thing? We had a plan to use one of our turtles to lure one to the surface and pelt it with tranq arrows, wil this work?

Thanks for trying to help me and my tribe on this issue, and if you want to join us, come to Night Stalkers server 1 (Not exact name) on unofficial.

I don't think a water base is quite smart. I've heard the Megadolons will shred through every pillar you put down.

Ive seen it done, and the lagoon im speaking of doesnt host many megalodons in it, ive only seen about 2 in it at a time.

If you watched the Dossier: Ichthyosaurus you can see the head on the mosasaur matched againg the ichth and the megalodon so you can make a guess of how big its gonna be ingame.

You are supposed to be able to use the wood pillars to extend bases out off the ground but i haven't quite gotten the hang of it yet. The huge door you saw is probably the behemoth gate. And bring lots of tranq arrows for the Megalodon, you'll need them. I've managed to get one by the fin from the safety of my base but of course I wasted a lot of tranq arrows on it.
What I like to do when I need a replacement Megalodon is to use a flyer to drop a pig or raptor near some megalodons and let the raptor swim to shore before it's eaten. I call it Chumming for obvious reasons.

Other than that, you could always use yourself as the bait. Punch the shark in the nose once or twice, backpedal to the shore, go into the water in between every shot to keep its attention.

When firing your tranq arrow, what I do is, jump up and point downwards towards whatever bodypart of the shark is closest to the surface. Arrows cant go deep i nthe water, but they can penetrate the surface to some degree.

Good luck taming. It can take some time. watch your oxygen bar.

The megladon can only fit through the bohemeth gate (learnt the hard way). Using the bohemeth gate, fence foundation and walls to create a pen for your sea pets is the way to go. Set them to neutral when your not around.

So far so good for me.

Good luck.

What I ended up doing was setting my megalodon to following a Sarco set on passive, parked just off shore. Sarco won't run, Megalodon is on Neutral and returns after attacks.

Also, I've got a second sarco there following the "Parking Space" as security. So far, so good? Gonna have to work on the Sea Pen eventually though.
Upgrade to metal pillars as soon as you can, Megs really do a number on wooden bases.

Water bases are very hard to defend and cost a lot of resource, obviously the best material to use would be metal but wood or stone would work! I'm in the middle of upgrading my walls to stone on my water base. Stone pillars will mean safety from dino attacks! The way I started mine was build thatch foundation and thatch walls all the way to the surface, figure out if you like the height and location (my floor is a smidge above water level). Once you are set with that replace with wood or stone, build your floor out then drop pillars down to surface - doing it this way will make sure your floor is lined up perfect! Also a tip to save you a lot of hassle, don't put any items down on first floor nor any dinos as attacking dinos will attack from below and dmg through walls.

Hope this helps

Yeah the sealed underwater bases will be crazy when they add them.

considering that you cant place c4 whilst underwater this will be a big issue

You mean the sealed underwater bases, I already got you covered buddy. Two words Depth Charge, I have a suggestion for on in my gear/weapon suggestion thread. I have to update the materials needed so its not so easy to make but its in this thread on the bottom post.
