Is it better to tame a high level or a low level dino?
Me and a couple members of my tribe got into an argument recently about this very question. I assume that higher level dinos have better starting stats, but because they take longer to tame their taming effectiveness is lower. Since taming effectiveness defines by how much a dino's stats level up, would it be better to tame a low level dino, or does part of the system let higher level dinos level up better or equivelant to lower level dinos? Can anybody fully explain how the levelling system works with both starting level and taming effectiveness?

Also, when answering my question please assume that I don't care about the fact that it takes more of my time to tame higher level dinos.

Higher level dino. Because a level 3 dino will level up 40Times. But a level 28 dino will level up 4o times. In the end its 43 vs 68. And you ignore the stats because you still only give them 40 star from each level they gain while tamed.

Also a higher base level dino always has higher stats. Because each native level gives them stats as well

hmm, I wasnt aware of that, is it a valid statement?

If yes than you need to knock out high lvl dino and check his stats anyway. If everything has gone to food ... its worthless and will only take longer to tame

Tame effectiveness only affects how long it takes to tame the dino. It has nothing to do with their stats. If you don't believe me Go ahead knock out a dino check it's stats look at them afterwards.

there's pros and cons.
If you've got the extra time, go for the high Level dinos. Its like getting a car with all the options and fancy stuff included. Better stats. etc.
BUT
sometimes you need a "disposable" dino or something in a hurry...and the lowest is best.
Sharks for example I would recommend get low level. Because they'll likely be dead in the morning anyways. ;-)

if you tame a Low Level Dino it comes with Lower base stats ergo. its easier to tame visa vera if you try to Tame a High Level Dino it comes with higher stats its Harder to Tame (Takes Longer). And it differs from Dino Size Bigger = Longer, Bigger + Higher Level = even Longer

In addtion to that if you got a Level 1 Dino and the max. levels a Tame Dino can obatin is 38, then when max this Dino is Level 39, if you Tame a Level 34 it can obtain Level 38 which results in a Level 72 Dino and High stats.

Hope that helps you.

Tame them all. Dominate the island with an army of dinos and when people see you they will proclaim, "Look! It's that guy with the army of dinos!"*

*Experiences may vary. Not valid if practiced in open public multiplayer environments. Use at your own risk.

Low levels, are better because in the end. The 30 hours you spent taming other high levels could earn you a bunch more More dinos>HigherLevel The get their real strength from what you spec them in. Dont gamble your time on high levels.

Wrong.
If you tame a lvl1 raptor it's maxhealth are around 1200 if you put all stat point to health
If you tame a lvl15 raptor (like my Mr.Cuddles) he have 1200 health at lvl 19

What's more is that the xp needed doesn't change, a tamed lvl 1 T rex needs the same amount of xp as a lvl 90 Trex to gain 1 lvl if they both just get tamed.

Yep. You can knock a Dilo out with a few rocks and a slingshot and take it with a handful of raw meat and not a lot of time at all. Then you have a ranged pet that can slow and blind for you.

Higher the better, And more taming effectivines yields more of certain stats. Like stamina and torpor. Probably some other stats, but those stats i haev noticed quite big differense

I got a high level dilo at level 61 and thought it would be awesome but the stats were awful, it appears that for nearly every level it had the points had been put into the food stat and was less effective in the important stats than my level 26ish dilo ( crazy bad luck with rng I guess). Still usually better getting higher level though. Can't seem to tame high level Argents though as they die before the tranq takes.

the higher the level the more difficult it is to tame e.g. takes longer, requires more narco to keep it sedeated etc.

The higher the better. You will be spending more time as the higher the level the longer it takes to tame also. It is well worth it thouhg. I tamed a 71 saber and a 84 ank. The saber does over 800% damage now after some levels.
