I honestly think that the game will live or die by its arguably superficial additions. People can only fight dinosaurs and build towers for so long. Adding in TONS of furniture, tons of lighting options, tons of clothing options and upgrades will keep people going.
Maybe you can pan for gold and add it to armour, clothes and weapons? Maybe you can carve statues and make art, if you have a dozen weapon types (slings, slingshot, spear-thrower, tomahawk, machete, spear, longspear, shield, etc) then you give more things for people to build and experience. Its a bigger time sink and thats what the game will need.
Every small additional thing, it doesn't have to be HARD to do, but even the smallest thing you CAN do will extend the life of the game immeasurably
It would be especially cool if you could make them auto on/off per room if you click one. Maybe even have a central container for their fuel so you don't have to micromanage every light source in the house.
I'd also love a stone fireplace - No cooking, just pure heat during the cold weather.
The pot doesn't work for you?
There's no fire hazard right now though - You can safely put a campfire in a thatch hut.
I know there isn't ACTUALLY a fire hazard, it just looks like one.
