Can you upgrade wooden fence foundation to metal?

I try to replace my current wood fence doundation to the same (wood) and it would allow me to do it.

I dont know if its different when you try to metal? I dont want to build it then tear my wall back down again (currently want to build stone on wooden fence foundation and then upgrade metal fence foundation )

Can anyone tell me if this is possible? I can't get it to work either.

I don't think fence foundation can be simply replaced at the moment. Regular foundations yes, but not fence. You have to hold E down to do "destroy" which will refund you half the mats that were used in building it (which is the same as if you simply put a new wall where your old wall is).

well the thing is I allready have stone walls on top of the wooden foundations with the recent changes of stuff that expieres I would like to upgrade it all to stone now (and metal in the future obv:)

I hope devs know about this and are working on a solution, wich most of the time is the case anyhow thanks for the reply and guess we will wait for a fix:P

Yes. It can be. It works the same as thatch or wood. or metal. If you place over it it will destroy whats under and place the new. But allows you to replace without losing its stability. Like placing a new foundation without destroying whats on it.

THings shouldnt expire while you are ingame. So as long as you login to the server. It resets the expiration date. Its for people who don't play anymore. Allows you to remove their stuff and take it too.

so it shold just reset if you log in? umm nope if that would be the case then we would still have tons of single thatch foundations preventing building and resource spawning

Pretty sure you can't do this but i wish it can be made later into the game. only walls etc can be replaced by a new one. foundation cannot

Yes, please fix, indeed. it's a pain to place fences, and it's pretty much impossible to redo them in the same place, because of positional blocking caused by nearby fences.

indeed, dont want to replace 40 wall high wall 40 walls at the time....
why cant it be like normal foundation, put on top of it, replace?

It indeed works like everything else and can replaced with another technically, however once you place walls onto a fence foundation it is near impossible to get a new foundation to overlay the previous one for replacement unfortunately.

How do you guys make these statements without testing them first. Yes you can replace foundations without destroying what is on top of them. I do it all the time. Replaced my entire stone floor the other day with metal without effecting any of the stone walls or ceilings. The same can be done with fence foundations.
