PVE its Enabled PVP it is off.
It's not any harder for me to just boost my gamma to the max through the nVidia control panel - And completely impossible to detect aside from the fact that I am able to run around at night with no light sources.
ARK handles lighting completely wrong - It needs to literally black out the screen when it becomes sufficiently dark to deter "workarounds", and only render any actual light sources.
By default Gamma correction is disabled on private servers. Unless the Admin changes this setting there isn't anything you can do ingame. However, you may be able to run in Fullscreen Window mode and up your desktop Gamma, this works in some games, but I have no clue if it will work for this one. I enjoy the night being pitch black.
Talk to your Admin he probably forgot to turn it on or he/she chose not to.
