my fix still works but it still has the drawbacks
Please confirm here if you have tried this after seeing an empty ARK Data Items area and solved the problem this way.
I just had this happen to me. Going to Single Player did work to allow me to access the Ark items and remove some and allowed me to access the rest of the Ark items in another private server.
pig manure, but it broke the obelisk it seem
on my test server I have about 400-500 personal(named, custom skills and lvl) dinos so deleting that file mention is not something that I will do
Confirmed. You can see all the items in single player and if you reduce the amount stored to under 50 stacks of items it will allow you to access it from online games again.
It would seem that while online the game doesn't stop you from going over the item limit and just hides it from you when you go over instead. While single player stops you and displays a message when you reach the limit but is always visible even if you overloaded it in online mode.
Did you try dumping it ALL out into your local game and trying again on public?
Issue seems related to a mod - bolas dont stack, so we are trying to take that mod off and unsubscribe to it to see if this clears the data.
The fact that you can store new stuff in there and see it implies you may be screwed.
This is largely why wife and I have our own server. We can do stuff together and when we get Alpha'd we can admin in what we lost.
It started after patch 256 when I exceeded a limit we didn't know was there; one item over 170 and everything turns invisible. They're still there as you can see the total number of items uploaded, but you can see them or interact with them.
I deleted my local save file (removed everything I had uploaded in other words) and thought it would be fine as long as I kept the number of items limited, but it keeps happening; even if I only upload 20 items some of them "disappear". We no longer dare to upload any items into the obelisks/supply drops in case of losing them and this seems to happen to all of us on the server. I never uploaded anything stackable or modded (mostly saddles and event skins), so I don't know what's causing it, but it doesn't seem to happen on official servers as far as I can tell.
I tried going into singleplayer to see if I could download or even see the six items I have uploaded that have turned invisible, but nothing.
We don't have a cluster, but we have two servers that we transfer between and that's how we discovered this. I was going to play on our SE server, loaded up my tames, saddles, weapons etc. to bring with me and lost pretty much all of it. Now we don't transfer anything except for the animals, instead we check our bps and the stats on the things we were planning to transfer and spawn in near identical items on the other server. It's a hassle and we would be thrilled if we could use ARK data instead. :/
You can deleted them by going into the ARK folder on your computer and delete the profile in the LocalProfile folder, but remember to make a back-up just in case and to download all your animals first if you have any uploaded, otherwise you'll delete those too. You will lose all your dossiers and notes if you have collected those, so keep that in mind (no engrams or anything like that though).
