Damn not my lucky day, we had a power outtage during the night so my computer shot down after only 10 ingame hours or so, no trees repawned but it was short time so I guess it may be normal ?
Will have to try again :(
Bushes and other small plants seem to be going extinct at an alarming rate. In previous weeks, they would grow back quickly as tropical plants tend to do. But as of lately, something in the air has changed. Small plants do not regrow, while rocks seem to materialize out of nowhere. Berry supplies are dwindling, and I've been forced to nurture tiny berry bushes to life by hand. While that helps sustain me, there aren't enough berries to go around. My pet dodo starves as I write this, but I also starve, and it may soon be time to put her to the axe.
I also have no way to tame additional beasts, as they would put a grave dent in my food supply which is scarce enough as it is. Without additional beasts of burden, and a faithful guard hound (RIP Ole Spitter), I may surely perish. I truly miss the berry bush field next to my house, but I may be forced to leave it all behind and inhabit another part of the island. At least until that area goes dry as well. I can continue to survive for a while, as the island is large. However, if this curious small plant extinction continues, at this rate I may be dead in under a year.
You, sir, need to become a writer :) But it's really unfortunate that the trees are not respawning on the island. Kinda ugly, to be honest. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.
Thanks! I wanted to put a spin on the troubles we've been having. I might make a habit of it though, that was fun to write up.
It is unfortunate that the respawn rates changed (or broke, who knows!), but I did find that it has forced me to different parts of the island I may have otherwise not visited if I had my constantly respawning resources available to me near my house. Perhaps it was an intentional change?
Hehe, yeah that could be, although I doubt it. Well.. at least I can set myself a new goal; DEFOREST THE ENTIRE ISLAND :D
Stones: about half a game day
Rocks: About a single game day
Bushes: depending on bush, usually a game day
Broken trees and drift wood: A game day
Palm trees: two game days
Big trees: A real day
Saying that, the respawn seems to be based upon a chance roll. So sometimes they are earlier or later, and they do not respawn in the same rate they were destroyed. So my estimates are based upon just that, an estimate.
Agreed there is a zone tat is just at the limit of my vision, never have been there. It was fairly full of trees but a bronto cam en destroyed many of them 4 or 5 ingame days ago. Bronto is long gone but the trees are still not back.
I never wnet there , no structure built there no reason for the trees not to respawn.
A new day dawns and still no new shrubbery. I have noticed large trees are also refusing to regrow, leaving me concerned for the ecosystem as a whole, but more so concerned for my own survival. I have decided to make the best of a bad situation and I have started clearing a path through the jungle. My goal? A small cave system I scouted on a previous outing. Hopefully the new break in the canopy will drive off the dark dwelling predators. I have domesticated two new dodos I found bumbling along the beach, they should serve as decoys should I stumble into a raptor hive during my journey. My hope is that the cave could be a safe haven, or lead to a new part of the island since my current home is slowly becoming inhabitable due to the lack of nearby wildlife.
A lone triceratops has recently wandered into my territory. She seems lost, and notably perturbed by the lack of berry bushes nearby. However, she refuses to leave. She has taken a liking to the poor trike stuck between some trees up the beach. I haven't been able to free him, since he goes into a panic when I get too close. If my trip to the cave proves... fruitful... I may be able to tranquilize them both and have a mated pair. They may be my salvation. I grow hopeful.
Lol awesome work man. How do you come up with this stuff??
And yes just incase trees and shrubs don't respawn I practice sustainable harvesting in which I hit a certain tree three or four times with whatever tool I need then leave that tree standing, then wait a few days and repeat the process. Same with berry bushes. It seems to have worked so far, but it does make gathering a bit more tedious, perhaps in the futuer the devs can add tree seeds to be planted.
I do the same for gathering, take care not to break what I hit, but unfortunately brontos wander near my base and break all the trees ...there go all my efforts :(
Also I noticed too that if you kill off one species another takes it's place. i needed keratin so I hunted the turtles and trikes near my house. dinos respawned but now I only have parasurs and phomia. i'm killing those and I'm beginnig to get trikes and turltes back.
Oh I'll try that as soon as I can, hope it works for me too :)
