The wiki says so, so it should be. They are also on gen 2 as their R variant.
There is no location map on the wiki for it either. Gen 2 yep but not Gen 1.
Since anyone can edit the wiki maybe it's wrong.
It happens.
Ah i understand now.
Snow Owl can be encountered on Gen 1 missions but it doesn't spawn normally.
Annnd you are totally right. I did encouter them as enemies on gen1, and have thought they could be found on the wild as well.
Then go backwards to extinction.
The story maps are Theisland, Scorched earth, abberation, extinction, genesis 1, and genesis 2.
If you played them in order, you would have finished extinction already.
or, download one of the free dlc maps and tame one there. They're on lost island.
Then, uhm... don't tame it. shrug.
Only point I was trying to make is that if you had played the maps in order, you'd have already been through extinction and possibly gathered tames there.
If you want to have a self imposed rule that you only use dinos native to each map, that's up to you. But you can bring stuff along with you. There's an entire system built into the game to move players, tames, and items between maps.
Once you start crossbreeding and stacking mutations it's a INCREDIBLE amount of work and time involved. I wouldn't redo that on each map. Don't have time for that. Right now I'm stacking weight mutations on theri's. I already have 22 health, 22 melee, and 21 stamina mutations. Doing weight just to get it out of the way (I used theri's for more then combat, they're one of the best all around gatherers in the game). Once I'm done I will use these theri's everywhereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
