Ark crashes my internet?
Has anyone else had this? I start the game, and then my internet goes down, shortly after quitting the game it comes back up, really not ideal considering I bought this game to play with my big brother...

Any ideas? I'm with TalkTalk if it helps

It happens with me too...
if im in the serverlist to long and refresh it, the DNS dies and I have to wait for like 5 min for it to kick back on, happens on arma 3 too..

Yeah, sever browsing in this game and Arma are both terrible. Servers load incredibly slow or not at all. Needs to be fixed.

Wish I could help you but I have never ever seen this issue myself. Nothing in Ark should be doing anything at all to your internet.

Perhaps you have a crappy home router? Or are you saying your Cable Modem actually ceases to have ISP connectivity? The statements made are so vague one could suppose any number of causes or reasons.

Multiple times a day I seem to lose connection while playing, get kicked off steam and am unable to connect back for 5-10mins. My internet however works fine.

Different router did not fix the issue, neither did a new pc. Had the issue on both windows 7 and 8.1

Try lowering your server browser "pings per minute" in your Steam settings (under In-game).

your isp supplies access to the internet through a modem, your router has access to the internet using this modem from your isp, your network card then gathers this information to connect you to the internet, no game can access this information (or change it rather).....if your entire internet is going down, it has nothing to do with the game itself. ark nor any game, does anything with this information....if your getting disconnected, entirely, its not the game. (meaning your not getting an IP address)

The router looses connection to the internet entirely, but my connection with the router should be just fine. sorry I'll have a read through all the other answers tomorrow when I'm more awake :P

Ensure that you have the game set to the proper internet speed you have. What is likely happening is that the game is sending to much data and your router or isp may think it is a DDS attack.

You may also need to mess with your router settings.

I understand this issue because i have it myself, and what happens is that if you spend too much time in the server browser or if you fail to connect to a server in ARK it somehow messes up your DNS (regardless of what DNS you use), I've tried, open DNS as well as Google's and my isp one and when i try to access any website via a browser i get the DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET error (in chrome other browsers just tell me their servers must be down, even when I try google.com). Now mind you i do not loose connection with already established services and such (my VOIPs never go down) but if I try to etablish a new connection wich requires the use of DNS will not connect. This issue started to show up for me since they "fixed" the server browser in ARK. It only happens when ARK either failes to connect of when i spend too much time in the server browser/change from official to unofficial server and so on. So far I've not found a fix for this issue other than wait 5-10 minutes after closing ARK.

Sorry for resurrecting an old topic, but the description in the last post is exactly the problem I have been having the last couple of days. Starting ARK has always been troublesome, but usually it just crashed or failed to launch. Last week however it has come with this added 'disrupt internet' bonus, and it is getting worse.

Could it be linked with the last patch by any chance?

And more importantly, is there a way to fix it yet?

The issue is with routers protection against ddos, the router thinks that the pingin to servers is a ddos attack and you lose internet connection temporarly. The way to fix it is to change how often ark pings the servers. Go to steam/settings/In-game at the bottom in game server browsing max ping.

Thanks for the quick reply!

However with all the written above I had tried that, and sadly it didn't work to start my ARK server. Lowering ping does resolve the rest of the internet not working anymore, but I can't join my communities ARK server afterwards.

With lowered ping it either never finds the server I play on (which for example, I still could play after waiting for like 4-5 min yesterday), it keeps hanging on 'searching for sessions'. Have tried waiting for it for 5+minutes without any change. Or when I try to direct join the server it takes 4-5 min before it actually starts loading, then hangs on 'snapshot16' for a while, then closes with the message 'Host Connection Timeout'.

The server is fine for other players by the way, and after the problems started a few days ago I asked for a new modem from my ISP, on which I could play yesterday (with the same long loading times I have been experiencing the last few days on the old modem as well). I also have tried lowering settings, and turning off my firewalls... no dice.

I know this is a dead thread, but this used to happen to me, and now that I've decided to come back to play in 2020 it's still happening. I personally use a cell phone tether ap. on boost it would be fine. but on T mobile after i ping the server browser a few times it times out myinternet an i have to wait like 5-10 mins for my internet to come back. I thikn its an ISP thing related to how arks brower works.. BUT IS THERE A FIX YET!!!! in 2020?

Don't necro old threads that potentially have things not relevant from 5 years ago with your issues.

Make your own thread and cite these issue but given that you're using a system that is not meant to be typically used to play a game such as this, then you're asking for a solution is a bit out of bounds so to speak.
