Melee Damage %
How much does this actually do in HP?

Like 100% 30hp? 600% 180 hp? etc

Depends on the dino. There's a hidden "base damage" stat for each species. The gamepedia wiki lists them, but there are a few they have wrong when last I checked.

Depends on the dino. Eg a Rex has a base damage of 60 so 200% would be 120. Other Dino's would have different base values.

unarmed base is 5 with fist. So if you have 180% melee that's 5*180%=9hp points damage.

That is how you calculate anything, a pike will be pike_base_damge*melee_damage=x.

A dino would be dino_base_damage*melee_damage=x

the exception to this ranged weapons which is base_damage*item_qaulity_modifier

people find the base damage values by poking around in the dev kit.

So if the base damage of an ape is 50? Would i be right in calculating 2000% melee damage being 1000 hp per hit?

Yes. Though armor then comes into the equation.

yes this example would be accurate but not realistic. We don't know the base damage of the ape (haven't been added to the dev kit yet) and with a high tame (95% affinity) you get 30.5% per level in melee, if you started at 300% melee (where most high level apes start) and spent every single point in melee you will get 1800% but will be left with starting health and stamina (around 2000 and 1000 respectively).

Some of the damage models are also wonky, for instance when attacking structures with dinos it seems to only calculate base damage, increasing melee% does not help to destroy structures quicker, but on your own character it does seem to work, so our calculations aren't always perfect examples when in game. There is a lot of stuff happening under the hood that people aren't aware of yet but over time people will figure out.

as of 173 Rex is 80 at base
- Base Carno damage buffed from 30 to 50, base Rex damage buffed from 50 to 80
