Building a bridge accross the waterfall need help it won't place the next ceiling as it says no foundation support?
So I have put foundations in the waterfall still have to progress the current foundations down further have to head back to my mining post to harvest a ton of stone and metal! But I can't work out what happened here! To start this off I had to place the foundation sticking way up high through the ceiling but I didn't want that look so removed it cause it looked awful and am thinking I may make it 3 wide so I can place lights etc inside the bridge with window walls lining it and I still haven't totally planned out the shape of the house yet either but plan to have it rolling down the cliff face if possible and then somehow have my dino pens attached etc as well so all dinos are kept in pens with fenced off bottom and top areas with bemoth gates! But I just really need some help here with the building side of things to find out what I can do to get this bridge to work accross the waterfall!

Do I need to have the pillars going all the way to the ground before it will allow me to set the next ceiling or what?? Any help is appreciated and I have included a picture of what I have started so far! The building base isn't confirmed yet as honestly I may make it bigger and a different shape given time I just want to start getting the basics down! I just moved all my many dinos to this area and I have decided this is my permanant base I won't be moving again lol! I have a foundation and forges to place but am not placing those till I get the basic house layout down and work out how I am doing it and get all the ceilings/foundations down! Any help is appreciated to help me achieve this goal!

Thanks

Oh andthe floor is different levels in this picture cause I couldn't place foundations in every area so had to mix it between ceilings and foundations!

Here is the image of what I have done so far! Any help will be much appreciated!

Oh and that doorway may yet go if I decide to make it a 3 by three am suspecting I am going to have to have pillars sticking through the floor where I don't want them to be! to make it think it has a foundation support! Wish it sat through only minor like the first one though!

Not all the rocks that form the waterfall are considered to be 'solid ground' for the purpose of making supports.

yeah seems this area is the edge of the waterfall maybe I have to build the supports all the way down to the ground! As there is no base in this area where I am placing supports!

Also can anyone tell me is there a way to not have the pillar sticking out fullt at the top?? as it wasn't allowing me to have it slightly through! I started from the top so I knew for certain they would be in the right place!

Keep in mind your pillar can just have a sliver of space under it as well that will keep it from being 'supported' and not want to support ceilings, ran into a few spots like that, and it won't let you snap another pillar to it because the pillar will be all the way inside the ground, hard to check for that though on the waterfall.

the only solution I have is move the bridge over one block to the side. It can be alot of troubleshooting with some areas on the map, expecially when working right at the edge of a waterfall because of the water textures. I've had to rebuild so many times because of little spots like the above mentioned problem. for planning... wood... final... stone / metal. If I know I can do it i'll just build with stone, but if im unsure - wood pillars, thatch ceilings.

Thanks for the suggestion maybe I will finish the rest with thatch then replace it with metal! I didn't know that about the sliver of space but makes sense! Thanks a ton for the help and suggestions! I might actually build in a cheaper material then replace it with the metal so I am not wasting a ton of metal/time collecting resources for metal/cementing paste!

You only need to extend the pillar to the floor on one side, then put foundations/ceilings across the bottom and a pillar up the other side. You will then be able to span the top without using any more pillars

Yeah, so you can get rid of some of the pillar sticking out. Once you build the outline of it (wood and thatch), leave the thatch ceilings in place and it should allow you to attach a ceiling to the top of the pillar. It still sticks through just a little but looks much better imo.

its better to replace the thatch before removing the pillars, i've had instances where I'd replace the thatch and both pieces would 'break', the one im replacing and the one im replacing with.

I have a friend on the server I play on who is building a bridge from out coast line to an island out in the ocean. I help from time to time, but diving to put those supports gets scary once in a while.

Yes, pillars need to be connected all the way to the ground, and there is a way to make it where you cannot see the pillar top, you just have to move around some in order to place it like that.

Thanks for teh help all it is so appreciated! Have decided I am going to build the rest of my base in wood/thatch then go about replacing it with metal so I am not wasting time and energy with metal sources! So appreciate the help!
