Too Many Oil Resource Inputs
In my oppinion there are WAY too many ways to get oil. I would say that I am happy that the new Hesperonis can lay eggs that can be refined into oil; but I feel asthough the sarcasm would go over the heads of many in the community. Seriously, oil is an END GAME resource, and yet there are 4 dinosaurs alone that produce oil (Not including the trilobite which drops oil, and the Dunkleosteus that harvests oil nodes) and yes I know that the devs are simply trying to provide multiple ways to obtain oil, but so many practically remove the point of oil nodes to begin with. Devs could have simply left the hesperonis' function to lay nutritious eggs or to have some sort of insulation perk to thier downfeathers. I know that It isn't the biggest problem, but It just feels like a waste of a dinosaur :(

Oil is not really used to craft anything other than Jerky. Just power fabricators and generators I think. And each oil lasts like 15 minutes anyway.

It may be an end game resource now but with the introduction of the tek tier it will become a mid-game resource. Presumably all the tek equipment will run on electricity and will therefore require oil so they're maximizing the number of methods to obtain it.

There's certainly some room for concern but the normal progression for a game at this stage is to get all the bits in place and then start worrying about balance.

For instance this bird and the trilo's may provide a slow trickle of oil to get into the L45-60 range but existing or new craftables or systems (like vehicles) may require way more oil than can be practically obtained from them meaning that you have to move on to mining.

So sure, if it ends up that this bird provides oil faster than mining in the end then that's a problem but if it does only at it's introduction it's not exactly the end of the world since there's been no balancing pass.

This.
It also really doesn't matter too much after the first couple oil producers that they're adding more. Someone could tame 100 beetles if they wanted; what really is the difference if they tame 50 beetles and 50 Hesperornis or 100 Hesperornis instead? As long as one oil producer is available, there's not really anything to limit how many of them someone tames. I rather like that they're giving people more options to pick from.

I disagree, when playing solo oil is a bit harder for me to come by... Im going to need to make another oil run soon. :/

Please, never enough oil. Also as time goes on I'm sure they'll add more things to do with oil/more gasoline powered things.

And if they add some kind of vehicles...

yea, oil has become kind of silly. I can go out and in 10 mins of diving have enough oil to power our generators for 2 weeks. It's pretty silly.

Stone on the other hand? I'm out there on the beach manually collecting EACH PIECE OF STONE and to build a small house take around 500 stone minimum. So silly. Larger structures? thousands and thousands of stone. frustrating.

Why are you manually collecting stone when you can just whack a big rock with an axe?

Half of the oil producing things are not even in the game yet
and they are still making more which seems like a waste of a dinosaur

I got this one Dexterous-

Easy- I can get 300 stone faster picking them up without wasting the repair time too...

because running around on the beach full of stone is actually faster than finding constant big rocks to smash :(

the stone on the beach respawns almost instantly

edit: you beat me :P

BUT

I do agree--- I've lost all interest in going into the water. No need to, I have months of oil/pearls/critin, etc. without even going into the water anymore.

heh heh... sure did.

I wonder if you know a location of an oil farm, I don´t. The best oil node I ever had was 10 oil and I had to use a Lazarus Chowder to get there. Oil stuff is a nice addition for dinos. If they weren´t useful for something, people would just wonder why they got added to the game. And it doesn´t really mean dinos will produce a lot of oil.
