How to build housing on Stilts
I was wondering how to build things on stilts in ark, I have seen people build these houses over water and i would love to do that but i cannot figure out how to do so, I have tried snapping platforms on to wooden poles but it doesn't work i've tried to go from the beach into the deep water and I can't get far i've tried a combination of the first two methods still won't work, and i've looked it up no results can someone help?

Oh well if i use the celling i can't build stuff on top can I?

Yeah, you can still build stuff on top. I have a "basement" on stilts and all you do is put the pillars down and the ceiling on top of them. You can build walls, ceilings, all of it the same.

Note as well. I didn't find this till later but as long as you have one pillar down the rest can sorta "snap" into place beside it (or infront, or whatever).

yay can you place things like beds on top too?
Sutha Aug 21, 2015 @ 9:21am
Everything can be placed. I currently have a Grill, forges, fabricator, storage bins. It acts as a floor. Your golden :)

Yay Ceelings forever!@

Yeah, what Kollyn said. You just need to put more pillars down to extend it.

Just bear this in mind if you're building in the sea:

Build one pillar from the bottom up, put a ceiling on top and then build the rest of the structure top down. You won't get an even surface if you do it the other way around. You need to place new pillars every 2 squares to get foundation support and you will have pillars sticking through the floor. Looks silly but there is no feasible way around it.

Actually, you can demo the top pillar (I only had mine 2 pillars high) and it let everything intact. XD. Though I'm sure if they fix that, it's gonna crumble :x

start a single pillar, bring it up several levels, then snap a ceiling to the 'middle of one of the pillars, put a ceiling out one in each direction, then snap pillars to the ceiling and snap additional pillars down from there to the sea bed. repeat for however wide you want your upper part. then build the pillars all the way up to the water level.

you now have pillars that can support your structure at the waters surface. the best ceiling foundations to use for the spacing below is thatch, cheap and disposable. make sure the pillars you build off from them go all the way down into the ground else they won't support anything.

easiest way i've found to build pillar based items in and out of water.

I am aware of the dangers of building over the sea i am simply going to build just enough so that i can store some smaller sea dinos under it
