2. alphas can eat stone and WILL eat it if they are close. So you may pretty much be rekt by a single alpha raptor while being offline.
3. metal spikes are a nice way of defending your base, but they are against wild life mostly. The same group of 3-4 people can clear any spikes without any real trouble. Plus i need some one to confirm that alphas can`t damage metal spikes.
4. metal safe-room with a bed and critical items (forge/smithy/fabri/stores) is a good idea, but anything else is subject to 1 and 2 points.
So, to sum up all this - if you are on an active PvP server in a location where predators spawn frequently and attack you - you wont survive for long enough without metal base. Eventually an alpha will come or you`ll be raided. Having metal mitigates the first threat and makes the second one less possible.
