I have over 2000 hours on Rust and 841 hours on ARK = I will beat those hours I have on Rust with playing ARK!
If that doesn't tell you then nothing will
Friend of mine can run ARK on his computer by now but can't run the new Rust... ARK has optimized more in 3 months than Rust in a year....
I would recommend both, just get ARK first. Then, in 5 years, when you're done with it, get Rust for 1$ in a Steam sale =)
Ark is more PVE at this point with a Pokemon flavor. The AI on the animals is still primitive, so it gets old fast. PVP, no bullet drop, and the skill unlocking means lots of grind to catch up to other players.
Never quite understood the reasoning in survival games that required you to start without clothes or something.... you know, being an adult character, I'd figure you wouldn't have grown up naked...
Just ask everyone.
Seriously this game is like Rust on LSD. Everything's just better.
Regarding the 'skill' system, I think you're referring to the engram system.
Engrams are craftables you have to unlock by spending 'Engram points' on them.
The higher level you get, the higher 'tier' you'll eventually be able to build.
I read that as bad at first. Apparently everything is just better on LSD?
