Will Ichthyosaurus feed themselves/other aquatic questions
So for whatever reason I've decided I need to tame as many of these nosy dolphin-types as I can, and put them in an aquarium. Currently, I'm scouting the peninsula/bay next to it at 83 long, 52 lat on the east coast. If I were to make a fence across the entrance to the bay with a big gate in the middle and set them to "wander" within, would normal little fish spawn for them to eat so I wouldn't have to feed them? Also, could I put some tamed Megos in there set to wander and aggressive in the event that hostile Megos/Spinos/Sarcos spawn there and try to attack them? Third and final question, would any know if the entrance to that bay would be big enough to get plesios/future aquatic life into that area as well?

Thanks!

1. Most likely not, put meat in their inventories.

2. Set them to neutral.

3. I cannot answer that.

Ah damn. I was really hoping they could, gonna be a struggle to keep meat on all these guys (planning on having about 100).

What would be the benefit of setting them to neutral vs aggressive? I figured that aggressive would make them attack enemies before being attacked, so they could get the first strike in and preemptively save the ichthys.

I just tamed a Ichtyosaurus, and does it have too be cooked meat, since that is what you tamed them with or raw meat. as for the original poster the benefit to netural is that they attack or flee targets that attack them only. once the area is safe they will return too close proximity as where you left them.

I was also wondering about having them on wonder, and did you discover if they do feed themselves in this mode ?

Why put meant in their individual, inventories? Yust get some good spots for Feeding Troughs to cover the area.

Was gonna suggest the same thing,we had a trough dead center of a large pool for sarcos, megladons and ichtys,if they are set to wander then 1 trough will suffice, they only need to be in range for a second or 2 every few hours

If you're going to put them on aggressive, you should also put Transponder Nodes on them. They will probably glitch through a wall during the attack and get eaten in the wild, or attack. swim. attack. swim. attack. swim. Until they're so far away from the original pen.

You can make your Aquarium as large or small as you want. We have a Plesi in our Water Base, and she fits perfectly fine. Bear in mind, they are REALLY freaking huge. We had to demolish our first Base months ago when we got her, and re-do it so she could fit in there. I think we just have the Behemoth Metal Gate down in the water for her to get in and out of, but honestly we don't even use her. She's just there to look cool.

As with all dinos, you don't have to feed them everyday. Just add a few troughs around the water and they will eat out of it. Dinos (and animals in real life) can go a lot longer than humans when it comes to eating. While I don't recommend going a week without feeding them, you should be ok for a few days. Raw Meat is REALLY easy to come by. On some days, I have so much stored in the Fridge as back up, Cook some of it for Backup, and all my Dinos are full, I wind up just throwing it away. So if you're going to have 100 of these guys and you WANT to feed them everyday (for whatever reason), just put half a stack for each Ichy.

So 10 x 50 = 500. That's really not a lot of meat at all. You could probably get that in about 15 minutes. Maybe a little less; and if for whatever reason that IS a lot of meat for you, then don't worry about feeding them everyday. Make it every other day, or every 3 days. (If you're going 3 days without feeding them, then make it a full stack per Ichy: 20 x 50 = 1000)

Cooked meat is the worst for taming. It goes from best to worst, Kibble (dodo), Raw Prime Meat, Cooked Prime or Prime Jerky, Raw Meat and last is cooked meat.

As for the OP. You will need to feed your tamed animals. Cannot count on them killing something and gettting meat from it, especially with dolphins. Feeding bin and calling them over is the easiest for this.

Right, I forgot about feeding troughs.
