Building a base off of the top of a cliff?
Here is a screeny of my base. I am trying to extend it out pass the cliff face. I have pillars down but I cant figure out how to make the foundation snap to it. I really don't want to use the ceiling because its uneven with the foundation and looks weird. What am I doing wrong? Can someone please help.

what your doing wrong is that only ceilings can go on those.

Also if they are uneven then you didn't snap the pillars to be even with the foundations

Pillars and building foundations are both foundations. You cannot put a foundation ontop of a foundation. If you plan on building on the side of a cliff you're going to have to use ceilings. When you use cielings if you want your pillars to all be the same height its best to build them off the bottome of the ceiling to the ground because if you start from the ground they will be uneven.

Thanks for the help. It kind of weird you have to use a ceiling to make a floor. They should make it so that you can use he foundations on platforms as well =)

Is there any way to build a ramp/stairs up to the next floor without it going through the floor like this?

@Daeminos, no, not yet.

If you were to upgrade to wood, stone, or metal, the foundation and ceiling would line up better because thatch ceilings are fairly fat and extend up more than the others.

Also, just a word of advice, but you can save materials if you know that you can place two ceilings away from a foundation. You don't need so many pillars

The only way really is to make the floors taller (ie. 2-3 walls high per floor) to raise the snap point of the ramp higher up. For me, I use 3 high walls and 2 ramps. That puts the bottom of the ramp flush with the ground.

I have a methos that can help you! Don't use pillars! Build foundations below on the ground where you want to expand to, as ceilings only check for a foundation below them (doesn't have to be aligned properly, just nearby), and not for walls for support!
