In Game Voice Chat not Working
So I haven't had to use it in a while (we use Ventrillo) but last night someone new came on our server and I tried to go say hi. It showed the microphone in the corner of my screen but there was no sound (microphone was grey). I then attempted to talk to some other people on the server and wasn't working for anyone. Checked my settings and voice is all the way up and tried toggling the talk box off and on but still didn't work.

Any thoughts? Is there an in game mic mute I might have hit that doesn't show on the key settings by chance?

in your windows sound/recording settings, make sure the box that gives exclusive rights to an application, is not checked

not exactly sure on the wording, but its close to that.

also try starting Ark, then alt tab and start vent/ts3 etc

Hey guys! Dead thread, I know, but I just fixed my issue so I thought I'd pass along what worked for me in hopes it helps someone else.

So, my problem was that my voice chat was clear as a bell everywhere else except Ark's in-game voice chat. After legit about a year and a half if not more of not being heard, cutting out, etc, someone finally tipped me to checking into Steam's Voice settings, whereas I'd been struggling to check out Ark's voice settings.

As of 2018 you open your friend's list, and there's a cog to the right of your name at the top, and then from there go down to voice.

Mine was set to default this entire time because I didn't even know there WAS a separate voice setting other than what you find in the main steam window.

Ticked it over from default to my microphone, and BAM. I can be heard ingame clear as a friggin bell.

Literally all it took.

Let me tell you I just about cried over how stupidly simple it was and I apologize if this isn't your issue, but if it is, I hope this helps!
