Once you get flying the game is no challange, now with the damage you can do with them its even less of one.
I oneshotted 3 Sabers 3 scorps 2 Raptors and a stego. . .
Enjoy the fun it is though :) and remember those pteranadons are glass cannons though! It might get nerfed but all it takes is one good bite from an alpha rex or some well palced bulelts to "nuetralize" that barrel roll.

Amazing how Nintendo can go and screw that up for everybody.
That would be preferable. If they actually had a detriment I would be a happy man. It ruins the fun for me personally just knowing I am capable of doing such things.
They are for getting around the island quickly. I use it to fly to an alpha fast, get off and kill it with my pike. Or I use it to hunt prime with my pick. Full movement speed allows me to get back to the fridge quickly.
The mount saw just as much use as my Argent which took far far more effort, time and work to tame.
Now the Argent is nothing more than a cargo vessel and who needs any other dino if you have a Ptera. We need some common sense balancing because this, the weightless monkey (Thankfully getting nerfed) and automoton stone gatherers (only makes sense if from an intelligent creature like the ape) makes absolutely no sense.
I will say again, WE NEED COMMON SENSE BALANCING!
So if you nerf the ptera, the argent will be the one and only dino again to tame.
If you nerf the stone dino, there wouldnt be any reason to tame it..
If you nerf the stone dino, there wouldnt be any reason to tame it..
Maybe but an argent saddle is 55, a ptera saddle 35
Argent level 120, need 94 prime meat and 3H30!
Ptera level 120, need 56 prime meat and 2H20!
We start a new server last week, already lot of player 70+. People use high ptera instead of high trex to get fast xp... so, a little nerf maybe, reduce the size of the AOE, raise the stamina need for a barrel roll...
Then your complaint should solely be the server latency, not mechanics. You CANNOT do this unless rubberbanding and lag break wild dino attacks. You may be able to get away with it on official servers or private servers with high latency, but you can't attack an alpha on a fast server with a ptera or with a pike and not get your rear end handed to you. They turn too fast and attack the moment you're in range. It's very difficult to kill high level rex's and spino's on foot as well, without breaking your flak in two or three encounters. Wild dinos turn faster than tamed rex's and spino's. If your server allows you to outmaneuver them, it's latency, not skill.
Alpha rexes I agree, not the case with the others. This is on single player. Only a high level alpha carno is a problem. I sit at 1290 armor, lev 60-80 alpha raptors do about 9 damage per hit, my pike hits for 457 damage (191% pike at 435% melee) which is the same damage as a 761% melee rex.
They drop relatively fast, Carnos I need a few health potions and some steak but can kill. On an official server I have relatively the same build and do just as well, better with Carnos though. As for alpha rexes, I can't get enough damage in before my armor breaks even at insane durability. So for this I use a wall/cliff exploit and time the bites for headshots.
But this comes to my quoted comment. It wasn't a complaint, merely the mention and use of the Ptera.
