Where to find Carno's?
I want to locate and tame a nice high level carno. My question is in which areas of the map would be best to find carno's in? I know death island has quite a few but I imgine it would be a nightmare of a place to do a long taming session in.

Actually, death island is a very good place, provided you can clear the other, unwanted spawns.

There is a limited part of the island where the predators spawn and wander. All you have to do is kite the carno up to the middle of the island, and voila, easy tame! Actually much easier than in other parts of the island, since the spawns are very predictable here.

You can find high level dinos anywhere really. I had a lv120 carno spawn inside my base on the south coast the other day :)

As Mustachio has suggested the North East island is a great spot for finding high level carnivors. Finding raw prime is also very easy here. You might need to build a bridge to get your dinos home as it is a long swim across deep water.

I havent tried to swim across on a fresh tame myself, so maybe someone else that has tried it can confirm if this works? Im the 'paranoid' saftey first kinda guy so I made a bridge :)

A bridge sounds liek a lot of work! I have a base on herbivore island (the whole of it. Encircled it with stone walls, built a landing pad, house, enclosed the sea area for water dinos etc) and I built a massive bridge to the island. It took a while!

Basically, what you do is fly to the island, tame the dino, set it to follow, and simply fly back over, periodically checking that the dino is still with you.

And as ExitWound says, they can be found anywhere really. The lvl of the dino is completely random, it's just where they spawn really. Carnos can be found many places, further inland they are more common. I have had luck on the southeastern part of the island.

Thats good to know about having the dinos set to follow. I know they have unlimited stamina when following, but I was not sure about the oxygen so thanks for clarfying.

I managed to get a raptor from the island without it drowning. They bop up over the surface every now and then, restoring oxygen.

+ Raptors are notoriously slow in water.

The only place without them is heaven, no meat eaters there.

If you want them in mass go central along the rivers or north west in the open fields.

Are you sure about that? Suppose they are just given unlimited soulless (dead on creation) beasties to eat?

You don't find carno's. Carno's find you. In the dead of night. In the fog. In close quarters. With no sound.

Death island but you will have a lot of trouble getting them back to the mainland

The funny thing is that carno can easily swim without consuming oxygen. Stamina is the only thing that dries out. And sharks are a threat if not escorted.

NE isle has little to no sharks around it (compared to SE isle ofc that just swarms with them).
