Animals missing.
I am finding alot of our herbivores go missing. They are not eaten they just dissapear sometimes leaving bags behind. This is happening to everybody that plays on our server. The main animals that go missing are Mammoths and Stegos. We cannot have one for more than 2 weeks at the max that I notice before they dissapear, a few others also. We run a Linux server but people are starting to get disgruntled about their animals going missing as bonds strangely enough do form with the animals and also it takes time to tame them. Is this perchance a bug or some strange setting on our server? Help would be greatly apreciated as this is starting to make the server die.

Is it just your herbivores? How about your other large dinos like your Rexs and Spinos? There has been an issue with dinos falling through the terrain for a little while now...

...but if they are leaving bags behind, it could something else altogether. Maybe it would be worth it to have an admin checking up on people at random times using the invisibility and fly commands. You might have someone secretly griefing, or you might be the victim of a predator attack that you aren't aware of at the moment.

Either may, I do hope you figure it out soon!

I've lost all 4 apes that were stored in my house. No bags, just up and went. Also lost a bronto that magically vanished along with a doedicurus and an ankylo stored in a pen (ceiling on top also).

My base is at a crevice at the bottom of the red obelisk mountain. There is a long ramp/path that goes down to it. I've noticed before that this area is dodgy if you drag people, they magically disappear sometimes when being dragged, then when they spawn in they are dead. I'm guessing the dinos did a similar thing. Reported via Steam to a dev but was ignored. Assume they know about it.

There is no griefing I know, they are covered by 2 turrets and I am an admin I assure you there is no griefing. Very similar problem to Jimmy I assume. Brontos also go missing there are quite a few varieties and mainly only herbivores. My animals are also well fed with feeding pens so I am sure the theory of my own carnivores eating them is not true. I really do think its a glitch. I am wondering though if its server specific because I know this problem doesnt seem to be anywhere when i look for it as Jimmy said.

Check your mods. Check if your turrets shot your dinos by accident (line of sight issues). Check if your dinos were too far away from the feeding trough. Any firefly/ants/argents around?

The only thing I know of is sea creatures still beaching after 20+ server restarts. When they are not completely submerged, they always "fly" up a bit higher over the water on every restart until they die. I don't know if this has something to do with people experiencing increasing/lowering water levels on some maps.

Thanks Yoth

nothing like that i can assure you they just dissapear sometimes with a bag. Its a big issue as its not only me experiencing it and it is only certain species which are all herbivores.

I've had dinos of every species disappear. Many people seem to be having this issue but I don't think we've gotten a response from devs. It's been happening on our private server for about a month and a half to two months. Everyone on the server pretty much stopped playing because of it.

Dino starves and dies is my first thought, otherwise the prevention for the fall throught the gound glich which is supposed to "pop things back to the surface" could be killing them instead. Not sure, but it would be nice to know if some of these issues are on Private (IE Megas issue) or public (official). If Private are you running any mods, have these mods gone out of date? Did they change something in said mods that could cause old dinos to go poof (etc). There is a bunch of potential Mitigating factors that were not addressed by the op.

All well fed, have a proper setup at my base :) Won't bother taming apes any more or even doeds now since they keep magically vanishing. Very frustrating bug.

I think the falling through ground glitch fix you mention above greystar is for players and not dinos. Although i've still fallen through the ground at the red obelisk and died, so its not as fixed as they'd hope in that aspect anyway.

Lost a ptera today. It was inside a 2x2x2 metal cell with the metal gates. Was on passive.

Also - i several times experienced a nasty glitch when a wild carnivore spawns inside the building and demolishes everything inside, killing pets and people. It is usually accompanied by pet inside this part of the base being puched outside through walls (as if they are moved to give space).

We have no mods on our private server. All dinos are well fed and protected. Tamed several different dinosaurs and spread them across the island on different terrains. Have yet to find a common factor. :/

There are a few bugs that could have caused this, given that they had bags left behind I'll assume its not the 'fell through the world' bug. Because of how the load order is done when a server is restarted dinos appear first, then destructables then terrain then buildings: this results in sometimes dinos falling through floors especially cealing tiles being used as floor tiles. I once found one of my carnos lodged so deeply into the floor I couldnt even access its inventory and had to break the tile it was inside to get onto him. If a dino is left stuck like this for a prologned (unknown) length of time the game consideres it irrepriably stuck and kills it.

Because of this its always best to check up on your dinos shortly after a server restart so that crap dosnt happen. A possible one thats pretty new but less likely is the 'launched dino' bug, Most people have seen this one when their dino steps onto the corpse of another and gets fired into the air like a rocket and takes craptons of damage when they come back down (thanks for that fall damage by the way devs -.-).
