As a side note, it's not exactly a good idea to take a semi-fresh tame hunting for alphas to level. You generally won't have enough HP/Stam/Dam to survive an encounter w/ the Carno/Rex version. I personally wouldn't go after a Raptor Alpha w/ a sub-50 dino either.

Forgot to add what YDF stated, it's far more likely to find one inland and they're only supposed to spawn around there too.
and slaughter everything there :D
high chance of a alpha rex/raptor there
IF you are on public server, this might be a problem as many people like to farm this area
Best way to find them is on somewhat empty servers. Their xp & loot = overpowered while still being relatively easy to kill imo.
I use a 10khp, 600%+ damage mammoth to kill anything in the game.
Finding them works best with 2 ppl at night, one scouts with flyer and looks for the red glow while the other one walks to the coords given indeed. With a fast flyer at night you can scout the entire map of alpha's. If you also set view-distance to low, it's even easier.
This would be nice but w/o someone around to keep it rendered, there's a good chance that it'll be despawned by the time you get back.-
Join an unofficial that has dino damage increased and the damage they take reduced... Suddenly you can't just now down wild Dino's like grass.
Can you please verify this information? I've personally never experienced a dino despawning. I found a 120 trike last night and wanted to tame it but I was too tired. After a long rest, I logged back on and the 120 trike was still there 8+ hours later.
In other words ... I believe you're just spreading false information ;)
Dinos only despawn if pulled from their spawn location, otherwise they will stay there forever until killed or kited away
I've had a non-damaged (based on overlay being not bloody) 120 spino at the northern end of Smuggler's Pass disappear after I went to my base (at 38/68) in the middle of smuggler's pass. The distance is barely outside of render range. The location was very close to a Spino spawn pt and I didn't engage after seeing it. This is particularly bad when there is a high server population.
Yes, this isn't ALWAYS the case but it occurs regularly...most often for the rarer dinos. Additionally, my only dino loss in combat was to an Alpha Rex (playing PVE) and when we sent ppl to take revenge, it was gone.
Finally, even if our server is an anomaly, Alphas are probably the most likely dinos to be away from it's spawn as well as the most aggressive. Making them the, more often than not, the dino's to fall under Smikis' criterion for DSing.
