Trying to Change Difficulty on Private Server
as the title suggest im trying to change the diffuclty on my server. i noticed that only level 1-30 dinos were spawning and im trying to get levels 5-116. i looked up how to do this and it said something about the DifficultyOffest and setting it to either 0 or 1 and putting the value in your .bat file. ive done this and set the value to 1 but have yet to see any dinos above level 30.

i heard something about killing all the dinos in the area to let new ones spawn but ive traveled to much further parts from where i am based and still havent seen any incredibly high level dinos.

is there a more specific command i need to put into the .bat file or anything? am i doing this wrong?
if someone could please give me a very straight forward and detailed out how-to on this it would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

Private server on a computer that is yours, or a privately rented server being hosted by some company you pay money to? You seem confused about command lines. If you are running the game as a private, dedicated server on your own connection, don't you edit all those different server settings in the .ini files of the server files?

Use this on your .bat file
?DifficultyOffset=4.0

OR

ShooterGame/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/GameUserSettings.ini

it goes under here with the rest of the settings you are interested in changing, not a complete list just an example of things that might live here.

[Server Settings]

private server that is on my computer. and i know i can edit the server settings but they arent all there. when you first start a server not everybody has the same commands and settings in a default .bat file. this is because some people want certain settings.

im just trying to find the correct command that i put in the .bat file to change the difficulty, because the dinos i see have yet to be over lvl 30.

If you don't have any tamed dinos, do the following two commands:

enablecheats <password>
cheat destroyallenemies

This will get rid of every single dino on the island (including tamed ones) and new ones will start to respawn.

If you do have tamed dinos, you'll just have to slaughter everything you run across. Also the wild carnivores will attack wild herbivores and it will start respawning with higher level dinos.

http://ark.gamepedia.com/Difficulty
Table at the bottom. It still works even though wiki says it is innacurate.
I use 0.571 in my SP world, which gives 75 level max for the wild dinos.

unfortunately i do have tamed dinos. wish there was a way to make them invunerable to that command. but i have started killin a few dinos and noticed higher levels among them
Greystar Sep 5, 2015 @ 3:43pm
If you try anything above 1 it resets to 1. 1 = 4x like on official. you'll get level 120 dinos eventually especially if people go around and kill off the low level ones.
Anakey Sep 5, 2015 @ 3:46pm
i believe if you uploaded the tamed dinos into the obalisk then did the destroy all cheat the dinos in the obalisk will be protected and will not be destroyed with the cheat command

Thanks Greystar / Tpyn, I'll go "fix" our server setting to what it is supposed to be. 1.0
I had wondered if that was set correctly, still produces wild 120 level dinos though. @ 4.0

You will see your server has actually reset it to 1.0. I tried putting mine at 2.0 and 3.0 and it kept reseting it back to 1.0. Think that value is hardcoded for the time being.

nope our server was still running it as 4.0 both on the commandline and the .ini file
i guess we were lucky it is clamped to 1.0 somewhere.

in anycase i have given our server the hopefully correct valid value of 1.0 now, wait and see what happens.

By the sound of it Hitman has the issue sorted and is seeing higher levels now. Sorry if i gave you some slightly incorrect information.

Someone claimed once they saw a wild dino at 150. The ONLY time i've seen a wild dino above 120 (with1.0) was when I started using the Improved Dino Spawn mod that added elites to the game and I've seen 3 elite raptors at level 212. Was a pain in the ass to bring down (and thatwasn't even an Alpha).

Our server is un-modded, only 2x taming speed, never seen anything wild over 120 in 1200 hours of gameplay, the biggest i have seen would be this big bad girl.

Others have claimed to have seen higher but i personally think it is just the ! in the kill feed turning a "you just killed a level 15! whatever" into a OMG Lvl 151.

yeah i think there are some values that are hardcoded into the game that can tbe overriden unless you have cheats or something like that.
i did see a level 120 dodo the other day. not the most terrifying creature but it shows the value input worked in some way. so i think either 1-4 will do it for you.

also a small bonus question about value in the server settings. does setting everythign to x10 work?

my friend is convinced that having things like taming speed, harvest speed and things like on x10 is possible without cheats. and also has said you can have settings at like x20 or x30 and im reaaally skeptical that the game would allow such a game-breaking thing. i think the max for everything is like x3 maybe even x5, but can anyone confirm if this is possible?
