World Editor?
Anyone know of or heard anything about a world editor being worked on for Ark? I'd love to be able to go into my SP world and place a bunch of thatch foundations in order to work out where exactly to start building without placing a bunch to find out that one part of the ground is too high or low and to have to start all over again few inch's over just to get it to fit.

Do you mean a world SAVE editor?

There is the ARK Dev Kit if you mean a map creator.

Yeah world save editor I guess, as I understand it the Dev kit doesn't allow you to edit save files or provide the functionality I am after and I'm not looking to remake the island just figure out how to place a large flat surface without spending hours of farming and placing etc etc

Then you'd be after a map editor not a save editor. Save would only allow for editing your player data and possibly placed structure data, as UE4 doesn't allow for modification of the actual Map.

So pretty much what I asked for to begin with a ""World editor" But the short answer is no it can't be done?

All you need to do is farm a bunch of resources, then go into your steam folder and find your saved ark file. Normally found here steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\SavedArksLocal

Copy that somewhere.

Go into game, do all the messing around you want.

Then when done, delete the current saved ark file and replace it with the one you saved earlier. You now are back where you were.

Hi, you can do exactly what you want to do in SP without a world editor, just use admin cmds to spawn in the premade walls etc , couldnt be easier. If you don;t have to spend time farming/ foraging and then assembling the items you can build a base or whatever in a very short space of time

admincheat GiveItemNum 81 10 1 false

gives 10 thatch foundations ready to place.

Im aware but still is a rather laborious task, you still have to clear a large area and place them down then if that doesn't fit start over again this is especially prevelant if your doing something like 50x50.... was merely curious if there was an easier solution out there.

It is not hard, seriously, do you need someone to hold your hand as they do it for you?

Hi, don't see how there could be an easier way.... even in an editor you would still have to manually remove the trees etc and place the foundations,
As an aside based on forum posts over the past couple of months, doing a fifty x fifty foundation then adding the 5 high walls to stop the alphas, and then roofing is going to push you into the realms of "too many structure in range problems"

it was just a number i threw out there. I guess I was thinking something along the lines of MC edit for minecraft.. I've spent nearly 600 hours in my single player game so far I guess I just find the whole build system a little....... problematic when it comes to foundations and creating something asthetically pleasing. I'm not expecting anything was just curious if there was something out there. I now know that there isnt :) all good I shall persavere.

If you mean 50x50 foundations thre is very little chance that you can find such a large flat piece of ground for that large a foundation. What you will need to do instead is build using pillars and ceilings (which will act as your floor).

Building structures in this game is very crude and has a lot of weird idiosynchrosies (sp?). It is a good idea to prototype and play in SP mode using admin commands to summon building components, as you will end up destroying a lot of stuff as you try to figure out how to make something work right, and then you often just can't get them to do what you want.
