Never chose character name
I'm addicted to this game and I'm really sad , when I first started playing I didn't choose a name, I left it how it was , as "BOB" is there anyway I could change it?
I have about 100 hours and it bugs me every time I login 😢

nope there isn't any way to change the characters name yet, not even a admin command. I logged into one of the offical servers, and the beaches were littered with bodies of 'Bob', you'd think they would have a bit more randomization to the default name then just 'bob' lol.

reminds me of some kids show... don't remember the name of it, but in the end, they are sitting on the new planet for the people, and the girl asks the guy 'so what are you going to name the planet?' and he replies "I think I'll call it Bob"

Bobs and Joes abound. So do Janes and Annes. If you're in a private server and friendly with the admin, ask if they'll help you make a new character and give you back the previous one's xp.

yeah but then you have all the building and tamed dino's as well, the admin would have to switch ownership of them. that could end up being alot of command tossing.

Not so bad if he's in a tribe. If he's solo, he can make a new tribe and have the admin join it as he makes his character.

We've done this several times in the private server we play on. Not really that difficult.

I'm on an official server and I'm running solo,
I guess I can create a clan, let a friend join, make new character, join clan ? but then I would miss out on like 50+ level ups ?

That will work, but yeah, you lose your exp progress in an official server. It won't be so bad if you have a stash of blueprints ready to help you and good pets from your previous character.

This is a pretty good point, it wouldn't be hard to remove the default name and make it a required field. I'm sure you aren't the only person with this issue based on how many people I see with a default name. When starting a new game sometimes the excitement can lead people to overlook any field that they don't have to fill in.
