How to Store Things

I'm playing in Single Player mode and I dropped a load of stone in my hut as it was slowing me down too much. Went back out and when I came back to the hut all the stone had vanished.

Do I need to learn the storage box engram and use that?

Or store it on your dino or another container. Any item dropped onto the ground has a decomposition timer placed on it. Think its 2 minutes, not sure. After that time it will disappear if it has not been picked up.

~TLDR below~

If you drop something it usually takes something like a minute or 2 for it to vanish. Gotta use a storage box, but that has limited room, so you'll need 2 or 3, or maybe just a large storage box.

Tip: Store tons of hide in there! Hide is constantly necessary.
Tip 2: Drop those stupid berries! For some reason, berries are always weighing me down, and can be found everywhere. Screw berries. Good only for taming herbavores. (Para=Mejoberries) Drop stupid fiber too. I find millions of pounds of fiber and never really need it.

Life without a storage box is meaningless. You'll get nowhere, and have to make clothes and weapons etc every time you respawn, which is a sure-fire way to go insane.

There is a limit of 200 per item that can be stored in a box, which applies to everything. Berries, fiber, dope...everything.

If you make a saddle or something that requires a lot of ingredients, you really need to drop it off in the chest, unless you're ready to mount a dino with it. Lesson learned the HARD way.

Another very important thing is to make a simple bed (or a bed in general), so you can spawn at your house w/ storage box anytime you die. Having more than one bed/sleeping bag means you can fast-travel between the 2, but you will have to store all the stuff you currently have, as you lose everything when you fast-travel.

You might as well make 2 of every weapon (or more), so you can store these in a storage box, so you don't need to remake them, and same for...everything else. Everything you'll use each time you play. A storage box is also a nice way to make spoiled meat from raw meat. Takes longer to spoil, so keeping it there means you can come back soon and cook meat, and collect the meat that spoiled to make dope. I have like 30 dopes in mine.

*TLDR: Make a storage chest or go nuts. Storage chest is the most important thing in this game. Make beds to always be able to spawn next to your stuff. Waste no time storing important things. Drop (stupid) berries and fiber.
